Loved this walk, mostly down hill starting from Marina Hills it’s about 3.7 miles to Salt Creek Beach. Once you go under tunnel below Niguel Rd be sure to go right or you end up back on road. Nice wide paved path, wonderful golf course and beach views, great breeze! But a bit more challenging on the return as mostly uphill. Bring plenty of water as there is not much shade. I will only do this one again early morning or in colder weather, as it gets brutally hot coming back.

This is not a good trail for roller skating. The hills are tremendously high with steep inclines both up and down. It is moderately trafficked. Great views but horrible for trail skating.

Full of wildflowers, awesome for running. Challenging uphill for the first three miles or so, levels off periodically. Stay left after you go under the second tunnel, else it will dump you out onto a sidewalk after a steep climb. Take water if you plan on running the entire way. No water fountains along the way and no places to stop after you leave the golf course area.

This is a well trafficked and paved trail. I wouldn’t say we hiked since it is paved I would say we walked. The trail is well maintained, running along the Monarch Beach Resort and Golf course, along the backside of some homes. I’d say mostly used by locals and hotel guests. If you’re looking fora nature trail this isn’t that type of trail.

OK - Laguna Beach has many beaches for sure. Thus far in my experience, this is the nicest and most scenic if you want to spend the good part of the day just hanging at the beach. Nice grass area, nice beach and very long, walking he beach is great, and yeah, there are a lot of surfers there, and the waves are great. If your bringing a lot of stuff with you, note, it is a ways to the beach (vertical more than length). I'm told at times there are $1 shuttles to the beach and back from the huge parking lot above. Which is another great thing you don't have to worry about - there is a huge parking lot right off Hwy 1. It costs $1 per hour though. Any kind of cash or credit cards work! Really, this is a no headache fabulous beach with easy parking. Note - if you want to hike to Dana Point (and that's a great area too) - you really can not pass the headlands area in between the two areas without going up the hill, then back down again. At the end of Salt Creek Beach , you will note the switch backs to your left that take you up and over to Dana Point. Note - this .gpx track takes you up for a drink at the Ritz Carlton Hotel (swank city) to an outside patio overlooking the ocean, then through the hotel to your parking lot.
