This is an easy out and back trail that starts at the bathrooms on Park Blvd at the entrance of Ryan Campsite. You can also start the trail by parking farther in the campsite. Be sure to read the sign before walking as it explains some of the history. The trail is a little sandy but is easy to hike. The trail rewards you with the remains of the Ryan Ranch. Be sure to look around while on the trail and at the ranch for various artifacts. For example, we found some really old metal tins and chicken wire. There is also a large rock formation behind the main house structure that you can easily climb. This is a great trail for kids but remind them not to touch or take anything. (A good tetanus shoot might be good if they like to play...) Remember, pets are not allowed on the trails in Joshua Tree. Enjoy the hike!

Beautiful day for this easy hike with interesting artifacts along the way. We also journeyed up the hillside a bit to see a geologic contact of Monzogranite and Pinto gneiss!

Great trail for kids, but the last half of the loop is pretty rocky and washed out.

Found a natural lounge chair built into the rocks that overlooked the whole desert floor. One of my favorite perches in the park you don’t need gear to climb to.

An easy and short hike. We saw a number of rabbits and other rodents. I enjoyed seeing the remnants of the old structure.

interesting walk. We stayed at the Ryan campground so it was a very short way walk to the ranch. the remains were great for pictures.

Worth a visit for a ghost town atmosphere, but if you plan on traveling to Death Valley make your way to Rhyolite for something much more impressive.

The trail is hard to follow as it seems to lead to a few dead ends. There are a couple old brick houses (part of the ranch?) to see which was fun.

It is a very easy, flat hike out to the ranch. It is neat to explore the ruins of the ranch but the hiking is extremely easy.
