Note: As of June 2020, Runyon Canyon trails are open however they are subject to capacity limitations and parking restrictions. IMPORTANT NOTE: this is a DIFFICULT hike due to loose ground and potential to slip on the descent. For an easier route in Runyon Canyon, take the paved road down or see this out and back route: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/runyon-park-to-indian-rock Runyon Canyon is an extremely popular hiking trail with great views of the Hollywood Hills. It is a great place to go for a quick hike to see the Hollywood sign or the views from Inspiration Point and Clouds Rest. This is also a great area for dog owners as there are plenty of off leash areas. Don't expect to have the trail to yourself and plan time for finding street parking. The southern entrance to the park is located at the north end of Fuller Avenue. Tennis shoes or running shoes recommended. There are a few water fountains but due to the sunny nature of the hike, you should bring a water bottle as well.

Portion of the Eastern side of the trail is closed due to COVID. A shame too...would have had a verified if not for the closing of the trail. Just had a small sliver left.

It was a pretty nice trail. Took quite a few breaks. Quite a few segments of incline. Good amount of people on the hike as well.

Great trail! Heavily trafficked and parking sucks! I love the view though. I like the part where you can put your own padlock . Didn’t bring one though coz my friend didn’t tell me LOL. But definitely worth the hike and will do it again and this time I’ll bring a padlock & write my name on it. I’d say this is a moderate hike. Bring water and snacks there’s a bench and some trees where you can eat and relax with a view :)

This is a loop trail with views of the city almost throughout the trial. Pretty good workout as the trail is pretty steep even though it’s not as many miles. Enjoyed the hike!

This hiking trail is classic to LA. But the good thing about it is, it’s a challenge and therefore attracts the more serious outdoorsy peeps. Ranyon Canyon is a great place to see a view of LA. I’d recommend going in the early morning to find parking and avoid the crowds.

Main parking lot is closed. Not worth the struggle to park.

We started off on the West Trail and the elevation was quite steep. On the way back down, the East TRAIL is closed but the paved road is open. Masks are required but not enforced. Lots of people and dogs.

One of the first trails I’ve ever done. Very dense with people! Many dogs too. For a safer descent, climb either mountain and descend down the paved road (between both mountains) parking is very tricky :( get there early and avoid weekends !

Only took the paved path out and back because we didn’t realize you can take the west side loop up (only one way south to north right now). Was an easy hike with some elevation - pretty much steady up then steady down.

It was moderately busy here today. I started at Mulholland. The east trail was closed, but the west trail was open.

A lot of the trails are still closed currently. although it was challenging, it was all paved (fire road) and obviously very crowded. This is one of those hikes that I can say I did once but likely wouldn't do again.

Nice trail, but extremely over-crowded!

It's a pity that this hike is so overcrowded and dog owners leave their dogs unleashed. I enjoyed the hike overall. Some parts downhill can be a bit slippery but I wouldn't say it's a hard hike.

I have always loved this trail. They reopened after clearance when the quarantine was over, but had to close again when the protests started. They are now open and monitored by parks and rec. Please make sure to check the new regulations and rules signs so we can keep this trail open! (Masks required and follow the one way trail signs)
