Pretty trail though very overgrown and eroded by rain. We brought our dog and 1.5mi in we noticed he had a tick on his face. We turned around and back at the car discovered eight more on him. Don’t bring dog!

Fun, easy trail made for light walking. Good shade, be weary of some poison oak on trail.

It was a nice walk with great views of wildflowers but beware of rattlesnakes. I saw several on the trail.

Nice little trail but TONS of poison oak, I got it bad- please beware!! Must be able to ID these plants, and stay on the trail. It’s very popular to bike, so you may be okay, just cover up and stay safe!:)

Pretty mellow trail. Could not reach the listed start/finish so I started the loop on the Regents Rd./52 turn around. Trail is mostly small-medium rocks with only a couple small hills. Good for a casual trail run.

The directions on All Trails leads you to a gated condo complex. Input Rose Canyon in to Google Maps and map yourself to that trailhead instead

I did a portion from Genesee going West at the trail head. After parking on Decoro road as recommended by the Coast to Cactus Trail Guide. There is another trail on the north side of the tracks but the actual trail near trailhead seemed much more maintained. Dirt road and ruts, some rocks but no elevation. Very nice and easy walk. Lightly populated on a Sunday morning at 7:00am. Did not see any wildlife. Few flowers. Cute footbridge. Nothing great to see, but pleasant hike. Forgot to record. Hiked 4 mi From Decoro road out and back. There was a bit more trail but we turned around.

Alright for everyday running or biking. Pretty flat tail. Not much variation of the scenery, gets a little boring.

really good for trail running as the ground is pretty even and allows you to run without much worry of twisting your ankle

Walking

The nature walk part of this trail is lovely and extra green if there has been rain, but the other end of the trail overlooks the freeway and other restricted fenced off areas—not too picturesque. Overall, a beginners hike with mostly flat land. This was not my favorite trail, but it was suitable for a nature stroll.

I go here every weekend, and any weekday depending on the light situation. The best part of this trail is that you can decide to stop at any time and just exit into the neighborhoods around it. This is pretty flat and easy to do, just sunscreen, hat and water is more than sufficient. I usually walk upto 5 miles of it and then get out into the roads and walk back along Genesee. Lightly trafficked is an overstatement. I've barely met 2-3 people on my hike each weekend. Depends on the timing I guess. Glad that this is so close to my home!

mostly flat, quiet and simple. Started just north of the 52 and jogged to the school and back, can hear the train occasionally running nearby. On another day, did the other end and met in the where I left off, the least favored part of this trail (the south part of the tracks, not very well traveled in some parts so the trail is not east to run on (deep sand and big pebbles).

Mountain biking

Alright so this trail could have been pretty awesome but ended up being about average. PRO'S - Nice distance, about 9 miles - Good entry level mountain biking, mostly flat well maintained trails with a couple of challenging but doable hills - Some cool moments: crossing little bodies of water, climbing a single track hill with a steep drop off just to the side and an excellent view, riding next to the train. - La Jolla is a beautiful area CONS - All trails sends you to a bad start off point in a gated community, easy to get by but still ki d of lame. - There is no clear indicator of when and where to cross over the tracks and it is easy to keep going until you are fully off the trail. This may be due to the poor start off point but I don't believe I was really on the trail until about 3 miles in. - BIGGEST NEGATIVE, there is massive construction under the 52? 56? I was really looking forward to crossing under the freeway but due to construction I saw no easy route. Very disappointing, I nearly consider this trail out of commission because of it. - Not the best hike to get in touch with nature. Overall I still had a good time, if All trails updates to a better starting point, (Maybe across from University highschool?) and the construction resolves, this could be a good one. U til then 2 1/2 stars. -

very easy trail, the only reason I broke a sweat is I was carrying a weighted pack. there isn't much to see or play with, but there are some interesting plants at least. there's nothing wrong with the trail. it's well maintained and wide with plenty of room. just a bit boring for my taste. plus you can see civilization for most of the trail, and that kinda defeats the purpose of hiking.

I'm giving this 1 star because the directions do not take you to the trail head, they take you to a gated community.
