This was an absolutely great trail. I loved how it started with an immediate incline and grade for getting it going. Most of the way up the incline when the loop begins is when the wind and that adds a different aspect to it as well. Loved the scenic views from going counterclockwise like everyone recommends. Got to a certain point and was feeling really good so I went to the coastal Trail and then re joined this trail. It was worth that divert. The views were spectacular. And then get back on the normal trail and have a really good incline first and then the fun downhill that you can run if you feel like it. Highly recommend this trail

Beautiful trail; my pup and I loved it. No pets are allowed when you turn right at the first junction though. We went left instead and just turned around at the intersection with Bunker Road.

No pets once you head right on SCA Trail at junction. However, Slacker Trail still allowed for pets...

This hike is great for viewing the best of SF all in one go (golden gate, bay bridge, Alcatraz, city skyline, angel island etc.). But as a hike itself it is just “ok” and I would consider this as moderate difficulty, not hard. I’m still glad I did it because I took great pics, was able to hike down to black sands beach and also saw the Point Reyes lighthouse on the coastal trail side. Saw some rabbits and birds as well. At the end of the trail we were able to walk along the Golden Gate Bridge since the trailhead is right next to it. For parking I recommend NOT following the driving directions to the trailhead parking area, but rather park in the lot on the other side of the bridge as there are more spaces and a pedestrian underpass that takes you back to the other side for the trailhead. So Park in the bigger lot on the right side of the bridge (if coming from the city).

Hiked counterclockwise. First part of the hike has dramatic east and south views of the bay, GG Bridge and San Francisco. Nice views but the trail is too near Hwy 101 which has significant traffic noise. Second part of the hike is much better along the Coastal Trail. This loop is better suited for trail running or mountain biking. Not remote enough to satisfy mountain hikers. Hiking the loop took 2.5 miles.

Did this on a beautiful day, very warm, there's not much shade but it's got great views. There is a restroom a little more than 2/3 of the way, which is a great place for a snack break before the climb back up the other side of the valley. It's a long hike and with no shade so bring lots of water. Pretty easy to follow along, spotty cell service but enough for navigation. Park at the north end parking lot, get there early to get a spot.

This hike is great for the views but the hike itself wasn't as impressive as most other hikes in Marin.

One of my favorite trail loops in the Marin Headlands, this baby has it all - views of the ocean, bay and Golden Gate bridge, wildlife, wildflowers, fire road and single track trails, and over 1500 feet of climbing. Traffic is light and the trails are well maintained. Don't forget to stop for the view at the top of SCA Trail.
