Hiking

Beautiful hike that starts heavily uphill, but then slowly meanders down the rest of the way. On the way up there is Townsley Battery which is an impressive installment and is well kept. After that, you top out at Hill 88, a falling apart and gratified military installation that is epically cool to walk around. There are amazing views of the ocean from the top and I highly recommend the short detour. Try to hit this hike on a non-foggy day to really take in those ocean vistas.

We choose a pretty crazy day for this hike! The sky was red/ orange from the smoke and no visibility at all due to smoke and fog.. It was an unforgettable hike for sure! No idea what the views look like on a normal day though..

Great hike, minimal shade on a hot day but started 8AM and it was ok. Plenty of free parking if you arrive early. Majority of the hike is rocky dirt roads. Went counterclockwise (past the lagoon along the road first) and glad to get that section done out of the way. View of beach at the end is great.

Very nice hike ! Did it anti clockwise that way you have the view in front while going downhill. Lots of poison oak on the sides to watch out for.

This was an absolutely stunning, picturesque hike with a good incline, city and beach views. I would suggest hiking counter clockwise so you get rewarded with the beach at the end. There’s also a whole array of trails off the main trail which are gorgeous! A must do trail!

Trail was nice overall. A few downsides: very busy, foggy, and mostly paved (not necessarily a downside of course)

It was a food place to escape the smoke, cold, foggy; but a good incline and a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge

We didn't follow the trail and got distracted. Ended up climbing up an incline up to the top. But overall it was a fun experience! Near the beach so that was nice.

Steep on the way up, but easy after mile 2. Would suggest adding an extra 0.5 miles onto the trail to check out hill 88.

Enjoyed the trail a lot. Good climb to the top! Seeing the old bunkers on top of Hill 88 was worth it! Hiking the last part through the valley was pretty.

Very good trail. Solid Pavement leads you where to go, but I went off trail Oceanside View. The bunkers were awesome to see. Hill 88 is worth adding to the trip. The fog makes the hike 10x better. You won’t be disappointed with this choice

moderately steep elevation upto Hill 88, which is the highest point. You get ocean views until this point, which is actually a 0.7 miles detour from your original route, but it’s worth it. Post that, it’s mostly downhill with views of hills and valleys and different trails intersecting with each other. Towards the end, you pass by a beautiful lagoon. Took me 2 and half hours with few stops.
