Rock Springs Nature Trail is a short walk on a good maintained trail that takes you to Rock Springs.  You have to go off the trail a bit to find the springs, but there is normally water there (and lots of insects and bugs). Depending on the time of year, the flowers here are amazing. Rock Springs has an old stone house, a copper mine site, the springs, and was the site of an army base (for a year).  So there are a number of interesting things in the area.

No people in May, on a weekday. Spring was dry, tho looked like coyotes had been digging for water. Gorgeous. Wildflowers galore. Easy hike, tho some vigilance required to stay on-trail.
