Now I understand why one reviewer said, “Are you on a trail? Are your not?” Can’t say trails are clear, tried using the AllTrails map and didn’t help us at all. The terrain is is rocky, tree roots and prickly bushes to navigate through so we will use more ankle supporting boots/shoes next time. GORGEOUS views. Brought lunch for my 3 kiddos and I in a backpack and perched on a rock and took in the view at the same time as some food. Parking will be a nightmare when it gets busier/warmer. Be prepared for the drive up, blind curves and lots of bikers on the road. Worth the visit!

10$ entrance to the park per vehicle, they closed an hour after official sunset. Went during the week and there was only one other group. A lot of markings on the rock, but the views were Incredible for such a short hike. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a quick escape from the bustle of the city.

Pretty, easy (though rocky) hike with interesting rock formations. Picnic areas, and seemed to be popular with families.

Are you on a trail? Are you not on a trail? who knows?! But part of the fun of this area in particular is just exploring so download the map ahead of time but don't worry about sticking too close to it

Interesting area - super dry right now. If you park at this trailhead, there are several other enjoyable trails (not appearing on AllTrails) that are right in this area that are not too challenging. Take a hat and sunscreen. My only real complaint about this area is that there was a shocking lack of face masks considering how busy the area.

We got so lost! Not easy to identify what is a trail and what isn't. It's a beautiful area though!

Perfect hike after a winter rain! Got there at 10:15, the parking lot wasn’t full yet, but the people were starting to come. In the end we’re very glad we got there early as there were so many families with kids that came after us. We didn’t see anyone about 30% of the time, but the most popular rock formations usually have some kids climbing on them. We took our time and explored in between paths, and took about 2 hours. Sentinel rock is windy and exhilarating, especially if you have a fear of heights like I do. There are wire railings to hold on to so it’s not too bad. Didn’t notice any poison oaks as I was too busy trying not to fall to my death. My husband and I are very pleased with ourselves for surviving in one piece, although our children are not impressed. Wear shoes with good traction. Hiking boots are better than sneakers I think. At 12:50 the parking lot was quite full but it being a short hike, I’m sure the wait wasn’t too long. No need to bring too much water in the winter. You won’t sweat much on a cold day and definitely don’t want to look for bathrooms up there. There are 3 pot-a-potties at the beginning of the trail and that’s it. 4 of us drank less than 2 bottles.

Great little workout if you take the loop around, but you’ll want to avoid the many unmasked screaming kids climbing on rocks. Plenty of parking, but prepare for lots of families. Beautiful landscape!
