Looks like an amazing hike for adults or older kids. Not little kid friendly, parking is a nightmare and be prepared with cash to pay. We had driven 30 min to this trail with our family and had to turn around and head back with really disappointed kiddos. The app should include details about parking and fees.

Nice trail. Definitely wear a hat/sunscreen and bring water for your pups on these hot days.

Good trail. Defiantly not kid friendly, but pet friendly. Not too much view points. Don’t recommend going during hot days.

This is a lovely moderate hike but do be wary of ticks and poison oak right now. Stay on the trail! I pulled 7 ticks off my dog and 2 off myself from this hike so check yourselves and your dog's carefully.

Good trail. Several options to extend your mileage. 3 weeks ago, before the shelter in place began, we only saw a few others on the trail. Plenty of shade and some decent elevation changes for a good cardio workout, if you so choose. We will definitely visit again!

Nice clean trail, temperature was wonderful, views not outstanding, but love Auburn area to hike. Took some side trails to add to distance and difficulty.

Nice wide trails. Starting to see some poison oak cropping up but if you stay in trail, wouldn’t be an issue. Enough hills to call it a workout. Not so challenging as to be intimidating to your average casual hiker.

It wasn’t a really hard trail, one can take their dogs and theirs a nice view about halfway through the trail.

Great trail. There are a lot of other trails that connect from this one, so the options on how many miles you want to get in are endless. I ended up going to the No hands bridge from this trail and back. Beautiful views!

This was a great hike! You definitely get a good work out on your way back up. The views were spectacular and I loved that a lot of the trail is in the shade.

Great trail ...wish there were directions in how it relates to Western States trail. At Robie Point, there are a couple of options and not a clear way to proceed for the firebreak trail.

A wonderful hike overlooking the American River. Mostly fire roads but there are many opportunities to go on smaller trails and follow same route. I took the Tamaroo bar trail back along the river. Went swimming and then uphill most of the way back. I prefer that. Some sun and shade. Not busy in a Wednesday late morning and free parking. No bathroom at parking but up at Robie point there are port a potties.

Did this hike with my dogs and really enjoyed it! Free parking, wide, well maintained trails and not crowded, even mid day on a Saturday. Lots of shade and a nice work out coming back up from the river.

Pretty trail, not too difficult and a good hiking surface. Several gorgeous views. Calcutta Falls was flowing but the water was meager. The old railway bridge over the river is a great picture. My dog enjoyed the walk as well. We did steer off after the hike was done and hiked up to Robies Point...may as well, when we were already that far! That climb was not difficult, either. There are some extended areas without shade, but we were there in the early morning hours and the heat did not affect us.

Loved the trail , the mileage seems off as we went out of our way to add mileage and still only ended up with 4 miles. It’s a very easy trail until you start the climb up from the river. Go down and hang out swim it’s beautiful, isolated and was super clear and nice.
