The entrance to the Ridgeline Loop was closed so we took the Squirrel Gulch to the Ridgeline Loop and ended it walking along the beach path to get back to our cars. There’s no shade, but luckily it was a windy day to cool us off. It starts off as a steep uphill hike but steadies out after that. The scenery was very pretty being at the top of the hill and looking down at the lake.

Wide trail, some mountain bikers, but beautiful views of del Valle park and Livermore Valley. Very little shade, but with mild temps no problem. Beautiful fall day with at least 9 deer sightings

What a hidden east bay gem! All these years I’ve lived in the Bay Area and never found this park, what a shame. On a Friday afternoon (“Free Friday’s” for the east bay parks 85th anniversary, a pleasant surprise) this place was really empty. A handful of campers, and absolutely nobody else on the trails. There is basically zero shad on this trail so plan accordingly. It was about 85F when I was there so hot but not unbearable. Some great views of the lake, the parts of the trail away from the lake were less interesting. But still pretty golden brown hills.

Beautiful views and moderately challenging walk/hike. Wonderful for the dog and humans alike! Ledges are a bit steep in places, so keep an eye on your dog if they like to chase squirrels.

Enjoyed this trail and I added in a bit of Lakeview and East Shore to make this a 6 mile hike with about 900 elevation. Some single track but mostly wide. I got turned around a bit connecting to East Ridge from Lake View and had to do some backtracking as the trails weren’t as well marked but I’d definitely do it again!

Tried this with our dog. Not too difficult.. However we ended up getting a little lost (not very mapped out trails) a couple of times, if you keep going up the east shore trail it gets a little steep in terms of cliffs (not too difficult to hike, but was a little worried with our dog).

Good hike to test out some new gear, nice views. Paid $6 for parking, forgot it was a charged location but luckily they accept card. Ran into a few park staff very friendly, will be returning.

Nice loop with not so hard huffing to do. The walk by the lake was nice - that is where you will find a couple of restrooms and benches to look over the water. This trail is a lot easier than the Squirrel Gulch hike. Nothing real steep and the views are stunning. Some wildlife including the same doe I spotted last month.

Partly cloudy but perfect MLK day hike. Many trail options. Well maintained with benches on hilltops to take a break and enjoy the scenery. If you make it all the way you the lakeside, be prepared to hoof it back in a steady uphill climb back to the trial head. It’s worth it. Bring water.

Ridgeline was a fun a trail to hike, there were plenty of hills and some benches along the way to sit and gaze at the scenic view. Unfortunately while I did enjoy the view the whole area was clearly showing the effects of the drought as a majority of the lake was gone and the rolling green hills had become yellow. Although that might sound disappointing there are some cows along the trail to aw at and the hills are still just as high.

Lots of side trail options. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. Dogs are allowed off leash except in developed parts of the trail (which is only a tiny section along the lake)
