Really nice loop. Lots of people on the Stream trail, but Prince and East Ridge trails were mostly deserted. Start of trail was slightly muddy but that dissipates after the first mile. East Ridge is almost entirely unshaded but it was pleasant today as the temperature was about 55.
Challenging and fun! About 70% shaded. Loved seeing all the tall red wood trees along the way. The trail was easy follow on the All Trails app. The path was wide (10-15 ft) for most of the hike, which was good for physical distancing. People were very considerate and would put on their mask when walking by us. My new favorite hiking spot. It took me about 3h 15 min and I climbed a total of about 3,000 ft according tot he all trails app.
Fantastic loop — good for a few hours on a hot summer day. Great biome variability, cool tree lined paths, dusty roads, and tough inclines. Lots of people in parts enjoying nature. What an incredible resource for all of us to share and enjoy!
Great for trail running! You can add on some miles by heading up to the West Ridge trail and Redwood Peak - the trails going up that hillside are very scenic and full of fun challenges if you are running. If you walk it, I'm sure it wouldn't be extremely strenuous though. Also its nice having the concrete bit because it allows you to stretch out your stride a bit in the middle of the run, but if youre walking or looking for a more adventurous run, I would recommend the side trail that runs parallel to the concrete trail, its about the same distance and goes to the same trails but is much more fun. Great trail area
