Went clockwise on a hot day which was a mistake. Sun on the ascent and shade coming down

Nice quiet trail. Quite a bit of horse poop that I wish could get cleaned up but it’s not too bad. The first half of the trail pretty wooded, and it opens up to be much more open in the second half. Wear long pants.

Good hiking trail with lots of shade and gradual incline and decline. Only downside is the amount of horse dung.

Really enjoyed this. Did it counter clockwise. Solid workout on the way up with some switchbacks but overall with steady incline and nice forest scenery. There is a clearing at the top with ok views and several benches (if you follow the sign for the vista/lookout, there are three more) and a garbage can. The way down is wider and a bit less interesting but still pretty with different scenery for 2/3 before you re enter the forest. Overall nice views and good for a moderate ~90 minute hike.

We attempted to do this trail but unfortunately parts of alambique and bear gulch were closed. We ended up having to take a few detours in order to get our 5+ miles for the day. Otherwise, very beautiful and accessible routes with mostly shade. There were plenty of horse droppings on the ground but the beautiful redwoods made it all worthwhile. Salamander flats was also an interesting stopover as well!

Nice trail with a steady climb and redwoods. Lots of horse droppings since it’s at the Folger Stable.

This is the closest hikes to my house. I go all the time. This is my favorite path of all the paths. The only negative is some horse manure. Other than that, I love this trail! Very good paths. Well marked. The start of hike (Bear Gulch trail) is through a redwood forest. You climb up about 2 miles or so. You then reach The Meadow which has a very pretty view. You then hike down Meadow Trail which runs through a Eucalyptus Forest before going Alambique Trail which has a few peak thru views of Silicon Valley but is mainly another redwood forest. The walk is mainly in shade with the exception of the meadow. Bathroom in parking lot. No park fee. If the uphill is too long, you can take redwood trail in to Meadow but you will miss the view at the top. Redwood Trail is quite pretty. No dogs. No bikes. Only hikers, runners and some horses..

Great short walk through the woods. The Meadow had a great view. Lots of horses on the trail. Note that this loop is not actually going to Salamander Flat, but instead goes to the Meadow. There was a Redwood trail in the middle that looked enticing.

A very nice hike on a rainy day which meant there was hardly anyone else on the trail. Made it a bit scary for this beginner hiker but also very exciting. I'll be back repeating it as I'm trying to figure out the best way to hike for me. Today I didn't use my hiking poles, next time I will. Overall, a very enjoyable experience!

Great hike that I would rate as easy and not moderate. It is muddy in spots with the winter rain, but amazing hike through the redwoods. There’s a slight vista at the top overlooking the south, but enjoy the time in the trees.

Very nice trail but a little squishy due to horse traffic. Beautiful views, wooded areas, vernal falls and meadows. More easy than moderate. My fit-bit logged this just short of 5 miles. My suggestion is to go counter clockwise to get the best experience from the loop. Walking stick helpful, well marked trail, lots of spots for picnics.

Beautiful and easy hike (if you go clockwise) in the woods , very peaceful and quiet before 10am. Great for families with kids as the incline is very mild.

An almost perfect 4-5 mile loop, and such an easy/close drive from the peninsula. Had never thought to come over here. Great redwood trees and a really awesome view at the top!

Fairly easy trail with clean toilet facilities. the only moderate part of the trail was at the first leg of the hike for about half a mile.

First half is uphill but very doable. Beautiful views and redwoods. I would rate this easy not moderate, as it is only 2 miles gentle up and remainder down.

Half is a steep incline up hill, and other half is all downhill. Mostly shaded in the forest surrounded by beautiful red wood trees. Breathtaking views at the peak. There's an option to go horseback riding on this trail.
