Nice hike, but hardly any shade, so be prepared. Also, first 2 miles (and last 2 miles) are on a trail up above the Angeles Crest Highway, so there’s quite a bit of noise from traffic down below. Gets nice and quiet after you pass the saddle between Mt Lawlor and Strawberry Peak. We went in mid-May, and it was almost too hot considering the sun, however the wildflowers on display at this time of year were really beautiful.
