A very peaceful and scenic drive through some high desert and badlands scenery. The combination of the colorful, eroded canyon walls and the pinyon/juniper desert woodland makes the scenery very different from both the higher mountain trails and the nearby Mojave desert. I started on the Pine Mountain Club side and ended near Maricopa. There's a quick descent down an easy switch back if you start on the high end; you begin in the pines, take a leisurely route through the canyon and eventually end near some vineyards down at the mouth of the canyon. I went in a stock 2wd Tacoma with no issues. Higher clearance was definitely helpful due to a few washouts, and I could see where in some conditions 4x4 might be necessary, but the road is wide and over all pretty easy.

Fun for beginners to learn a little bit or testing out your new 4x4, but nothing technical.

Simple fire road around Frazier Park. Accessible until snow comes.
