Took a 9.5 mile trek on the Quarry Trail and part of Brown’s Bar Trail (until the latter became a bit too overgrown to trust the passage). If you stay on Quarry Trail, it meets up with additional trails in the area. There are elevation changes, which makes this a moderate hike. I recommend starting earlier than 8am on a weekend because parking fills up fast ($10 in lots and along the roadway near Foresthill Bridge). If you park along Hwy 49 in El Dorado County, it is free. There were some runners on the trail this morning, but far fewer people than on the Clementine Trail or to trail Calcutta Falls. There is a good amount of shade along this hike. There’s also some poison oak on the edges of the trail.

Great trail. My first hike in ages and was able to do the whole thing in about 5 hours. Just a few places over grown. If you rest in the forest, watch out for mosquitos. Rocky in spots, but it’s all good.

Great loop trail with significant elevation changes, some nice views & lots of shade. Sections of trail overgrown with berry bushes & lots of poison oak all along the trail’s edge. Use the facilities at the start of trail as going off trail not a good idea due to poison oak.

Very nice easy hike on a wide gravel road next to the river. Have to hike at least a mile to find a place to get down to the river or just keep going down the road.

Quarry trail was great, easy, and with moderate crowds. Once off Quarry Trail it was VERY overgrown (notably with blackberry bushes and poison oak). I loved the trail- it was diverse and really beautiful with many creeks and great views. I would not do it again unless the trail was cleared.

Overall great hike! Once you start going up, a bit overgrown in some areas with the occasional puddle of water towards the top. The way down is a bit rocky and narrow in some sections.

Loved this trail, found a cute little spot on the rocks, right on the river to hang out listen to music and take a dip!!! It was a pretty easy trail, had to cross some creeks, I went later on in the day time. Spent about 3 hrs out there but didn’t get to finish, had to turn around because it was getting dark

4 stars because of signage. if you need a workout this is good one. we went straight all the way to browns trail entrance. missed it at first and went back to get on path, once on brown's trail it's all incline. streams to cross. no sign where you need to turn watch your map to stay on path. once we got up to higher elevation where there is a sharp turn path becomes small and steep. we did not make it the whole way up. turned back around and went back as my legs were on fire and it was getting late. next time we will conquer but will take the first right turn on map that is not visibly apparent and looks overgrown to take the uphill climb early and do the downhill later in the hike. enjoyed this and was very sore. we were out 5 hours.

It was cool and overcast which was perfect for today. I can easily imagine coming back to this very easy hike in the heat of summer and taking time to dip in the river along the way. Path is wide and generally flat. Beautiful views of the river and surrounding peaks as well as flora and evidence of wildlife make for an engaging meander.

Had to cross the creek 10 times. There is a "Y" that isn't marked (see waypoint) and when you get on the correct trail, Alltrails doesn't follow the map well... It looks like you are off trail for a short distance. Some of the hills were pretty steep. On the positive side there were lots of waterfalls. Not huge but flowing nicely

Good trail, it was a great hike. Not that overgrown, just use your AllTrails app to go the right way and you should be fine. Took my dog and she loved it.

I am not even sure if I did this trail. i couldnt find the loop back to the parking lot, me and a friend went with the dog. the trail just kept going and at one point we didnt know where it ended. we saw some off trails but they were not clearly marked. we just hiked a bit past brown's bar and back. which was ten miles total. there is some pretty decent incline and decline on this trail. we encountered lots of bugs in our faces, but didnt see the overgrown vegetation everyone on here was talking about. it has some beautiful views of the river. saw some deer. pretty decent hike overall.
