Completed the loop today. Signage wasn’t particularly good and the app wasn’t helpful. Nonetheless some of the trail spots are absolutely beautiful. But the sections next to and on the roads not as much.

Fun trail!! If you follow the Coastal Ridge trail, you can go all the way down to batteries to bluff and Marshall beach!

From the beautiful natural landscape in Presidio to the breathtaking bay, this is by far the most interesting trail that I ever been. Hiking with others or running alone will be an unforgettable experience.

Lovely, especially with the golf course closed and being used by family. Took off star because their are some road stretches. Some highlights: Short views of the Bay, GG bridge, Baker Beach, Mountain Lake, the Presidio golf course. If you want to do the exact route, you’ll have to pay close attention, but some of the side paths we took added value — cemetery view with Bay behind and a dune restoration area.

Very pretty very nice easy trail, however we went at the end of August and there were coyote warnings so we couldn’t even take the trail and had to turn around. They said dogs were for bidden because it’s coyote popping season. I think it would be great in another time of year or without the dog.

Walking

Great 1hr loop around the golf course for running or a flatter walk. It starts out on a narrow wooded path, but expect to also walk on the sidewalk, cross quiet streets, walk a wide unpaved service road, and hear the freeway for a few minutes. You’ll even pass Rob Hill Campground, which was fun to take a detour through. In many ways, the varied terrain keeps the walk interesting. You’ll need access to map to stay on course—it’s not clear for first timers. Not a heavily trafficked tourist hike. If you have time, I suggest walking to the playground across the street from the golf club parking lot. The 5 min walk has some beautiful views of the presidio and there is additional free parking over there. If you wanted, you could add another 20-30 minutes by walking the loop.

Great run. First time I’ve gone running in forever, but was able to run/jog about 60% and walked the other 40%. In all it took me about 45 minutes. Definitely a challenging run with elevation changes, but also really nice scenery. I’ll for sure do this trail again in the near future.

Mostly paved, along roads. Starts strong, with views and wooded paths, but peters out quickly.

When turning into golf club and café head for the first right hand parking lot – the trailhead is on the right side of that lot. The hike was a bit longer than expected though well worth it. If you have a pet-the Park Trail shortcut is not possible due to Coyote warnings. Requires a little navigation to make the loop. Much of the trail is through-woods. You will cross a few roads and walk along the road a short way and through residential neighborhoods toward the end of the hike to pick up the last portion that goes through the cemetery. We walked slowly and took breaks with our dog and it took about two hours. A few minor uphill and down hills. Moderate hike is a good assessment. Views at the top...of the Marin headlands are outstanding! Bring a camera! Unexpected crossing underneath Presidio Boulevard which we have never done! Lots of other hikers along the way. The final 1/2 mile is uphill...behind Mountain Lake Park. If you are tired-take one of the set of steps on the right, to cut through the dog park at the top of the mountain lake park which puts you out at around 8th Avenue and Lake Street; for pick up by whomever you hiked with that parked at the trailhead. It's about 8 blocks from there;)
