Pretty good hike! It definitely wasn’t a gradual raise in elevation. It was you were going straight downhill or going straight up hill.

HikingGreat!

Beautiful views of the redwood forest. A little tricky to cross the river in the very beginning if you follow the map, might be hard after a rain. Really fun train though, just make sure to keep track of where you’re going because some paths are not clearly marked.

Loved this hike! TIPS: - Download the map ahead of time because there is no cell signal and it’s easy to go the wrong way. - If you bring your dog, be aware of temperature or bring paw covers. I made the mistake of going around 11am on a hot day and there is a long stretch on the loop section with no shade. My dog’s paws were too hot on the sand so I ended up having to carry her for a 1/2 mile. Much more of a workout than I was anticipating! - There is a LOT of fresh horse poo on the trail. You’ve been warned :) Otherwise the combination of redwoods, a stream, and the open terrain was beautiful. If I hadn’t had to carry my dog I would rate this on the easier side of moderate. Dusty ground throughout except on Pipeline Trail which is paved.

Wide fire road trail. Lots of loose soft sand and rocks. Tons of poison oak on the pine trail so this was a better option.

Awesome hike. The ups and downs can be a challenge. Good is was 65 degrees. The observation deck is awesome. A bit of mud in the beginning. The rest was dry.

Beautiful scenery on this trail and great for dogs. There are few, if any, signs along sections of the trail, so it was difficult to follow since we’re new to the area. It was pretty muddy after the recent rain, but overall a nice hike.

Nice trail, dog friendly, goes through several microhabitats and has a great lookout. Trail is in good condition, mostly dry except for a few small muddy spots.
