Pomo Canyon Environmental Campsite is currently closed but you can still do this awesome hike. There is plenty of free parking at the trailhead, which is currently marked by a fence and "Campground Closed" sign about .3 miles from the campground. The hike starts off a bit steep, but winds it's way through a beautiful redwood grove covered in ferns. After about a mile the trail levels out and becomes sunnier, with more plant species diversity- keep an eye out for wildflowers in spring and early summer. Finally, you hike through a meadow like landscape and head down to Shell Beach. The return hike is slightly less steep. Bring water and wear sunscreen.
