Point Cabrillo Light Station Coastal Trail is a 2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Caspar, California that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Easy walk out to the lighthouse and the ocean views are well worth it.
Easy trail. There’s a path through some foliage and plants and then there’s one that’s paved. We took the “scenic” route on the way in and the paved route on the way out. The view from the cliff is breathtaking. The lighthouse is pretty but we couldn’t get in that day. Not sure if it was just timing or COVID related.
Nice walk to the operational lighthouse, great clear ocean views and whale watching!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this trail down to the ocean cliffs and then over the the lighthouse. I walked thru the museums in the lighthouse and the houses on the grounds. I took lots of pictures and took my time enjoying the scenery. It's beautiful.
Short hike to point Cabrillo lighthouse station. watched sunset on the way back.
Nice walk to the lighthouse and much less touristy than anticipated. Note the first mile CCW is on tarmac, but the remainder is through grassy fields which is much more enjoyable. A bit breezy so bring warm layers and free parking can be found off the highway when you first enter.
Easy but one of our favorites. Recommend going counter-clockwise, out on the northern light station trail (which we took straight to the shore) and returing via the straight road. You can appreciate the view of the lighthouse better while heading out. Of course, wear long pants, as you always should.
The trail is lovely. Paved until you reach the light house. The aquarium / museum is very small but informative and fun. The bulge along the cliff side is lovely but very windy, my water bottle blew out of my hand (fortunately we recovered it). The cliff side trails are fun. The return trail is cut through heavy grasses and runs parallel to the paved road. A fun path. If you enjoy wind you will enjoy this!
