Pleasant Grove Creek Trail via Dirt Trail and Bike Path is a 2.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Roseville, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This fairly level route starts at Horncastle Avenue and winds its way to Veterans Park. The route to attempts to stay on dirt trails whenever possible, however several sections follow the paved bike trail at places.
Nice, easy, level trail. If taking your dog, you are required to stay on paved trails. This is true of the south-eastern end of the trail for sure. I'm not sure if it applies at the north-western part of the area however. There are some nice places near the north-west end of the dirt trail, far from the paved trail, where a few dog owners let their dogs run free.
It appears that as we started on the paved bike trail, the main trail became a dirt trail. As we continued on the bike trail we received a message that we were off trail. We preferred the bike trail since it was easier on old bones. It made no difference that we stayed on the bike trail since the dirt trail always ran into the bike trail. That being said, it was a beautiful day for a hike. Temperatures were 70-73 degrees with no breeze. Spring flowers were plentiful with a minor number of California poppies seen. I would definitely do this hike again in the spring.
Pretty, quaint and quiet trail. You could hardly tell that you’re in the middle of suburbia. Beautiful wildflowers and oak trees the whole way through.
Beautiful weather at 4pm. Everything is lush. What’s my favorite about this trail - the offshoot trail lined by many painted rocks, all the little connected trails, but especially how it ends at a park for the kids. We called parks at the end of trails “pot of golds”. They got to play (masked) for a bit before heading back. Definitely recommend for families.
Wonderful trail, lots of lush grass. Like others have mentioned, trail was marked pretty poorly and we wandered off onto several tiny loops and dead ends we didn't intent to, but was still great!
The trail is all paved but lots of areas to go off road. Lots of birds and beautiful creek that runs along the path. It is beautiful how Roseville has created a walking space for nature and humans can co exist. The trail has many starting points. I did not do the paved path the point I turned around was when the off road met the paved part.
This was a very pretty, easy, busy out-and-back trail (it's not a loop). Part is on paved bike trail, part is a dirt path - just check AllTrails and follow the trail.
This was my first time on the Pleasant Grove Trail. It was a good trail. I walked this trail as mapped and had to cross several barricades to complete it versus taking the actual path the city provided. It seems this access point is better served by the homes near it and the general public that doesn’t live near this access point should access the trail through any of the other legitimate and improved access points I saw along the way. Maybe the barricades were due to weather and are opened up in summer. It was a nice map, I just felt like I was trespassing at the access point and will probably access this trail from a park or paved path and not Horncastle Ave in the future.
Nice paved path. Could probably take a bike on the dirt parts on the trail.
Designated sides for pedestrians and bicyclists can get a bit confusing at points but it’s such a wide open gorgeous trail that there was plenty of room for all to enjoy as they saw fit
