Description
Waypoints (0)

Please do not feed the wildlife and if a coyote approaches- yell, wave your arms, and chase it away. This is a great route that offers beautiful views of the ocean and the rolling hills of the Tennessee Valley. A great place for trail running with some steep inclines and declines. This place is a chaparral habitat for bands of roaming coyotes and home to bobcats and deer. It is a bit of a scrambling to get to Pirate's Cove, this section of the trail requires climbing on rocks to access the beach. Please check tide schedules if the plan involves time on the actual beach in the cove. Definitely a great work out. But the views are worth it!

Beautiful coastal views! Most people wearing masks. Come early, parking was basically full at 9am. A loooot of people on the way back, mask was on most of the time passing people.

HikingGreat!

Highly tourist populated trail who do not know proper trail etiquette. Does not allow dogs. Other than that, breathtaking ocean views + covered trail. Ends at a beautiful waterfall (if you know how to get there). Bring your camera AND snacks/ water and extra TP- no toilets or water fountains on the trail

HikingGreat!No shade

This trail is 100 percent exposed. Bring a hat and sunscreen. There were a lot of cars at the parking lot, but the trail itself wasn’t crowded. Worthwhile hike.

Get there early!!! My son and I got to the carpark by 7:30am this morning and already there were quite a few vehicles. Came back and it was full, over flow parking down the ways. We hit the trail and went down the very challenging steep and rocky path to Pirates Cove. It was empty at 8:30am, so it was lovely to just sit enjoy and listen to the crashing waves. Upon the return we decided against going back up the steps and instead went on the Coastal to Fox Trails...instead of 4.8mi out and back we ended up just over 6mi loop with views of Muir Beach too. Overall I would do this trail again. Be warned there is no shade!
