Moderately steep up and down trail leading from Muir Beach to a lovely small cove. Even on a hot summer's day, we found only a few people on the trail and only one couple at the beach. Take water and beware of some poison oak along the trail. The last part down to the beach is a fairly steep scramble.

A tough workout but beautiful trail and hike. Highly suggest getting out early (7:30 was perfect) to beat the crowds on the trail.

My partner, pup, and I absolutely loved this hike! What a gem this beach is. The three of us were the only people there for a few minutes, and the entire time we spent down by the water we probably saw 6 people. The hike itself is fun and rewarding with gorgeous views of the coastline the whole way. Starts out with a pretty steady uphill incline, then descends steeply to a rock scramble to get to the beach. I'd recommend bringing water and a towel, as well as hiking shoes or trail running shoes for the dusty and loose rocks at the scramble.

Nice hike with beautiful views (did this in July and surprisingly no fog!), a good steep climb. Took our dog too (on a leash). Fairly busy. Arrive before 9 if you want a spot in the parking lot on a Saturday!

trail is gourgious! the last 300 feet are very difficult--basically your going down a washout. aside from that, it's an easy hike with plenty of wildlife!

Great trail. Get steep but gets easier. The trail to Pirate Cove at the end is very steep and slippery even when dry

great views, and the smell of flowers and grass just amazing. it's been dry for a while, so not hard to get down to the cove, which is small but very pretty and almost people-less

This is a great short trail run! The 1st hill is humbling but short and takes you to a private beach. Perfect also just for a hike and end the day with a picnic at the beach!

This was a great hike for me and my dogs. It’s pretty steep at first but evens out after and then you hit another steep section after making it down to pirates cove. Plenty of pull off areas to take water breaks and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It got fairly crowded later in the day so starting in the morning around 9-10am would be better for more solitude. Will definitely give you a great workout and ambiance.

Hike from Muir beach along the coast through pirates cove to Tennessee beach. Hike bike along the coastal trail. This popular and well traveled hike has great views in all directions. On a clear day you can even see the Farallon Islands. It has a lot of climbing and down hill but path is well maintained. Limited restroom facilities with pit toilets at each beach. No water at either beach so pack accordingly. Pro Tip: Parking lot fills up early so be prepared to park along the highway.

Muddy in parts after our wet California winter. The 350 feet down to the cove is quite a scramble. We decided not to do it with our two kids. And it’s quite a workout, either going steep uphill or steep downhill. That said, we loved it and will absolutely do it again. The views of the ocean are incredible. Rolling hills on one side, and ocean on the other.

Beautiful views, once we got to the cove the tiny trail was like a mudslide... couldn't get down to the cove without risking falling/slipping into the mud :(
