Avoid the traffic at Muir Woods and come here instead! Pioneer trail is a lovely all accessible walk through the redwoods. They have signs for the most popular trees, and there are some trees that you can walk in. Free parking and a nice visitor center. Dogs not allowed on trails but they can be on the roads that are within 100 feet of the trail.

Not so much a hike as it is a nature walk, but each time it’s beautiful. A bit muddy today with all the rain we’ve had lately, but being surrounded by the redwoods is always magical. I got here around 930 and there was hardly anyone here (had to self checkin at entrance), but an hour later it has filled up quite a bit.

Very easy and the redwoods smell amazing.
Very easy and beautiful! Perfect for little children and strollers (and wheelchairs too!).
Pretty easy trail. Trees were amazing & the trail was nice
Great place to take out-of-town visitors who want to ogle redwoods without too much hiking—and without the massive crowds of Muir Woods. Much of the trail is wheelchair accessible. Good signage. We went on July 5th, arrived around 4:30pm. Plenty of people, but not too crowded.
