Go early in the day in the summer. Great trail for all abilities. A few tough hills. Beautiful trail in the flat shady part by the dry creeks.

Must be beautiful in winter/spring with all the water in the streams. But still gorgeous. Some water to cross. Saw a flock of turkeys and 4 deer. And lots of cows! Went with my 6 & 8 year olds.

A nice rolling hill hike. No shade for the first and last part, but plenty of shade in the middle longer and flatter section. Beautiful views of Pine Canyon and peregrine falcon nesting area. A long up near the end, but we’ll worth the hike back to Macedo Staging Area. Suitable for all ages.

A fun hike! Bring exact change to pay the $6 parking fee. The first part of the trail is unshaded, out on the hills among the cows, but then you pass through a gate into oaks and walk alongside a stream. The mud others mentioned is gone now given how unfortunately dry this winter has been, but there are still a couple of shallow stream crossings, so wear good shoes and bring hiking poles if you don’t have good balance on rocks. The Little Yosemite part at the end was my favorite. It’s a pretty single track trail beside some cool rocks. The whole thing took me a little less than 2 hours, including a break to rest on a sunny rock in the middle.

Great summer/fall trail. Bikes can go very fast on parts of the trail. I would avoid in the rainy season.

It was swampier than we would have liked. There was a creek with little spots of water to cross which was a little more than bargained for.

We hiked this trail mid June and it was beautiful. The up hills were a challenge but the view once you get up into the trees and can see the skyline is great. Definitely a great workout!

From a view standpoint starts off slow. Then when you get to the wooded area it opens up nicely.

Hiked it in Oct and while a nice hike, it'll be much better in spring and early summer when the creeks are flowing. They are dry now. Saw a fox so that was cool.

Lots of shade to cool off in. Avoid during prime sun. Good 2 1/2 hour hike.

Hiked the first week of April- the sunny day after the rains. Very muddy, lots of cow pies, and multiple stream crossings. Shoes may get wet if you fail to jump over the streams or hop on rocks to cross. Bring extra shoes to change into if you are driving back home from the hike, as your shoes will be caked in mud! However the scenery was beautiful! Butterflies, blooming flowers, ground squirrels, cows, turkeys, earth worms, water falls, rivers/streams, and green everything! You get to see a couple elevated rock faces halfway through the loop. I recommend hiking here in the summer or after a week or more of sunny weather. I do not recommend this trail if it has recently rained (because of muddy terrain).

This is happy trail for horses. It's muddy and very hard to walk.

Had a great time hiking with a friend and my two 10 year old brothers. My brothers struggled a little bit towards the end but all in all it was a great hike that was shaded for over half the time. Beautifully scenery and would definitely do it again!
