This is the direct route to Pincushion Mountain and one most often traveled by hikers looking to get to the top. The trail forks about halfway through and veers to the right leading to a very challenging climb to the top. You will definitely feel like you earned the views. This is also the route used by the pincushion hill clime race, which happens each year in September.

Great trail! The hike up is pretty steep & the climb to the top is rocky. I would definitely recommend to wear shoes with a good grip & possibly trekking poles.

Beautiful trail best done early in spring as it gets quite hot by May. Lots of mountain bikers. Easy and fairly flat in the beginning with huge elevation gain towards the end. To note. Would rate as moderate to hard depending on which path you take. You can take the path to the left which is less steep and not a straight shot up. Climbing up the peak can also be quite rocky if you chose the shortcut (otherwise there is a paved path to the right that whips around).

Great trail to hike for a days hike. Pretty steep at some points, but worth the push. Had our 9 & 11 yr old sons with us as well as our 12 week old pup, all made it to about 3/4 of the way up from my guess. Didn’t wanna push the little wuppers too hard on her 2nd hike.

Lots of loose gravelly inclines/declines. Recommend a hiking stick.

Awesome workout. Definitely moderate or even slightly harder for beginners. The trail starts off easy but then picks up to a steep hill. At the beginning, there are 2 trails (right one is more of an incline, and left is slightly easier). once you get to the steep area, you are almost there!:) Right before the last section of the "steep area" there are again 2 pathways. the one staright is steep and rocky, and the one on the right, is easier:) Be careful throughout the entire hike, dirt can get slippery!

Can anyone tell me why this is listed as CLOSED? Is there no way to get to the trail head because of pandemic?

Awesome if you are looking for a short hike or trail run that’ll get your heart pumping when you get near the top, it has loose rocks so be carful. Once you get to the top, it gets pretty breezy and cold.

It was beautiful. We went for the sunrise and it was perfect. Definitely gets challenging with the rocks on the way down, but totally worth it.

Did this trail with two beginners. They enjoyed it overall and are excited to be able to get out into nature. Highly recommend. There was a handful of others doing the trail as well.

Went on our first hike of the year . It was fun, nice views, good work out but there’s a but... a lot of people. People that are playing loud music, laughing out loud, taking Risky pictures for Instagram. It was so annoying. Hikers usually hike for the peace and quiet. To be in touch with nature. To encounter birds and some animals... but if there’s people being loud playing their loud music it takes all of the “hiking motive” away from it. So if you are one of those ppl, take headphones and be considerate with the other people on the trail. I was so annoyed... that I’m going to do my research next time to hope there’s not a lot of ppl on the trail.

Great trail. Easy to follow. Beautiful views. Free range cattle. It’s rated as moderate but what constitutes moderate? The first half of the trail is straight up! I did see whole families and small children doing this. I did it as well, but note to all: while a quick hike, that first part is strenuous.
