Great view at the top. Few patches of snow left of the trail. Biggest negative was mosquitos, otherwise a really nice trail.

Little bit of snow that could turn muddy as weather heats up soon. Difficult to track switch back area with snow. Easy to find trail at bottom.

It snowed most of the day when we hiked on Sunday 7 June. Even with snow on part of the route, the trail was easy to navigate. Video of trail. https://youtu.be/zxJeAGmhxaQ

Decent amount of snow about 1/2 mile in but can do it in tennis shoes it was barely 1/2 mile of snow. We hit up Peter Grub Hut first to see if the weather would clear up as it was cloudy but wind was whipping them fast. Gusts at the summit were upwards of 40mph....so we didn’t linger too long. Got some great pics and headed back down. Great hike!

Great trail to go snowshoeing

Wonderful hike to the hut. Peak to the hutt is tricky look for the orange tree tags. I did this with micro spikes and was aLl good until I got lost getting to the hut. Great hike, excellent views!

Use Crampons and not snowshoes for this trail in the winter. Lots of people considering the conditions. The hut is awesome ! Moderate with snow shoes. The climb is easy but with snowshoed made it worst than it was. Good for beginners

Beautiful easy trail with moderate traffic - skiers to hikers, some to castle peak and some to the hut. Microspike a must, snowshoes recommended. Husband and I did it with just the spikes while rest of our group used snowshoes. Parking - start early to avoid the crowd, parking is just right after boreal inn, don’t forget to obtain sno permit

Scenic trail! Snowshoes or micro spikes are a must, it gets pretty steep and icy. We made the mistake of parking at the rest area across the freeway by Boreal and crossed the freeway via the PCT tunnel. It was a surprising experience but was a long detour. Wanted to continue up the peak via the castle peak trail but we were running out of daylight. Will definitely do this again.

I'll come back to this hike in the winter for a little snow shoe action. Cool little place! Short for a hike.

Great place to snowshoe. The trail can be hard to follow and we had a little trouble finding the hut. We eventually found it. I would love to return.

Make a reservation for the hut in the winter. Great place to snowshoe or backcountry ski too. We skinned up Castle Peak and dropped into Round Valley before reaching Peter Grubb. Safety First.

Snow packed by multi sport winter use so was very runnable and enjoyable without snowshoes. Peter Grubb Hut a fantastic mid-run reward. Highly recommended as a winter trailrun.

Great little trek through the woods. Easy to follow the snow trail and the hut makes for a great place to stop and chill for a bit.
