Pedro Point Headlands Trail is a 2.4 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Pacifica, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Secret little coastal hike with unparalleled views of the San Francisco peninsula shoreline. An area of outstanding coastline and natural habitat of several endangered species, the Pedro Point Headlands tower above Linda Mar beach and the southern most point of Pacifica. Now publicly owned, these lands are slowly recovering from dirt-bike use and are gradually being nursed back to health with plans to eventually open series of official trails. Not being well known and without a signpost in sight, if you head up here there's a fair chance you'll have the whole park to yourself!
- If you enjoy this area and are interested in restoring it to its former glory, consider volunteering for the Pedro Point Headland Stewardship Project funded by the California Coastal Conservancy. - Motorized vehicles are prohibited from the park and can cause further damage to the wildlife. Please consider reporting violations to the Park Police on 415-561-5505.
It was a great moderate hike with beautiful views. Not so much shade.
Nice short hike with great views of the Pacific Ocean. Lots of steep parts of the trail with loose gravel so I’d be careful and wear hiking shoes. Not a lot of trees along the path so it gets pretty warm. Parking is limited. We ended up parking by the Devil’s Slide Trail entrance.
Gorgeous walk with stunning ocean view. Recommend counter-clock wise for evening stroll. Prepare for strong wind. Will come back for wild flowers for spring.
This is a relatively short trail which typically has incredible ocean views. But today was extremely foggy and without being able to see the ocean, you really realize the half of the trail is a pretty uninspiring fire road. I have done this hike many times and love it but I would only recommend it for a clear day. Only passed by a couple small groups so it was fairly quiet and peaceful. My dog had a great time zooming up and down the hills along the way.
This is a fantastic trail you can really get out “into” the ocean and I think the views are better than Mori point which is amazing too. We did half the loop then navigated over to devils slide, did that and did the other half of loop. This way we got a longer hike and had zero parking issues
If you can, go early and park at the Devil’s Slide North Parking area, near the restrooms. A short hike, but depending on the day, can be very cool and windy, so dress in layers, if you go early. We took the counter-clockwise trail which provides more shade and has a moderate to steep incline. The views are pretty amazing and you can see Shelter Cove and Pacifica Beach down below.
Beautiful trail! Not crowded at all. Trees at the top provide shade for a picnic lunch! Kids did well with the climbs, great views. Some mountain bikers to avoid on the lower trails. No parking at devil’s slide so we parked in gravel lot in front of Ace hardware, more parking available there. Follow trail along highway and into the woods.
Loose gravel on steep descending slope, but gorgeous sweeping views of the beach
The initial climb was tough! But absolutely worth it once you see the views.
