The Patriarch Grove was not enough so combined the other trail from the parking there.

This is an easy trail even at the high elevation. It's worth the trip to see the Bristlecone Pines. You also get great views of Cottonwood Creek basin and all the way to Telescope Peak above Death Valley.

We wanted to see Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest and found several trails here. The area is a lot cooler then Bishop so glad we had our jackets. I will say the travel up here was a rocky and upward climb. We were driving a jeep and felt the road. But this is definitely a place to visit and see.

A lot more to explore in this area than just the trail. The road to get here is also epic in its own way.

A must see if you're in the area! The dirt road back to the trailhead is a little rough but a fun drive if you have the right car.

If you want an out-of-this-world experience, then the Patriarch Grove short hike will fulfill that dream. At nearly 11,000 feet, the ancient bristlecone pine trees reveal thousand of years of survival from drastic winds, and lacking of rich soil to grow or flourish.

So you thought the sequoias on the California redwoods were the oldest trees around... not so, the Ancient Bristlecone Pines take the honor! And the gorgeous White Mountains take the exoerience to another level!
