Beautiful scenery and a lot of fun. Lower portion of trail was flooded so we couldn’t complete the hike back to our car.

This is a great trail. I try to do it weekly. Weekends are extremely crowded. Better after you get passed the first overlook. BE WARNED: it is showing the trailhead starting from a subdivision, which is a much easier place to start. This start makes it 4.9 miles. However MOST people start down where the LDS church is. If you start there, it is much more difficult and there is a sign that puts this trail at 3.5 miles one way (7 round trip). Highly suggest a weekday after a storm. Visibility is great and hardly anyone on the trail.

I did this trail starting from the top of the neighborhood during a weekday so it wasn't all that crowded thankfully. Street parking is free but it's a very twisty ride up/down so drive slowly as there isn't much space to have two cars pass at the same time. Starting at the top of the neighborhood is way easier than parking at the bottom as it's literally all uphill until the start of the trail. Even on weekdays the trail can get crowded cause it intersects between two other major trails. Though when I went it was cloudy/foggy the views were still pretty amazing - unfortunately at the vista it was too foggy to see anything but regardless still worth it since it gave you amazing views of Los Angeles on the way back down and the coastline of Santa Monica & Venice!

Amazing hike but the beginning uphill part is a lot longer than everyone below states. The whole out portion is majority uphill. Incredible views at the end made it worth it. It also averages at about 6 miles from the starting point this sets you at just FYI. We took a couple side routes to look out points that contributed to that

Came here on Dec 30th around 11:30am and it was easy to find parking on the residential area. Maybe it was because of the holidays that parking was easy to find. The trail was easy to find. It was a clear paved path the entire way up and down. You start off with a slight incline and keep working your way up. The incline is nothing too crazy anyone can do it, just keep at your steady pace and breathe. The trail will continue to incline and about .5 miles in flattens out. The view at the top is beautiful and coming back down you get the entire city and ocean view. Definitely would come back again!

I came on dec 19, 2018, it was a Wednesday so not many people were around. Parking was relatively easy but I can imagine it hard during weekends (the starting point is in a fancy residential
area on a uphill road, and you can only park alone the street in certain area.)

The first 1/4 of the rout could be a little bit intense for people who haven’t worked out much, because it started uphill right away and could be steep sometimes. Fortunately, the trail was wide and no steps or obstacles, and there were a few stopping points for photos and resting.

After has its quite easy, and you would ready the midpoint (the tip). It had a great view of LA and oceans, and two benches!! (I thought that was rare.)

This is a fantastic choice because one can see mountains, skylines, and ocean all at once. Also there’s a diversity of Californian native plants and various birds chirping and hopping around. Highly recommended!

Clocked in about 5.6 miles on this one. Beautiful views on this trail, similar to other trails in the area. Starts out with a good incline for about 1.5 miles then somewhat levels out until you hit the summit (past the bathroom/trash cans). There are a couple of benches at the summit to enjoy the view of the coast and downtown. The trail itself is fairly wide, and very exposed with little to no shade. This is a popular local trail so it's heavily trafficked, and as traildummies.com says: "like the 405 - it is so crowded nobody expects you to talk to them." Parking is on the residential street only, I was able to find plenty of open parking on a Sunday morning, but I heard it gets pretty hard to find parking on the weekends.

I love this trail and as a local I go at least twice a month. In the summer you should definitely start as early as possible because there is little to no shade. It’s a beautiful view of the ocean with lots of wild flowers along the way. As someone hiking alone occasionally you can walk alone but have someone walk by every couple minutes.

Great views of ocean and canyons. Wide paths for hikers and bikes. Trip out is mostly uphill and return trip mostly downhill. No parking at trailhead, need to park on residential street leading to trailhead which can be very limited at times.

Love this hike! Greta views and a nice amount of incline to wake your body up. It’s one of my go too. I prefer going early when it’s quieter and just locals and a few early risers but it’s a great hike regardless.

Parking can be tough but I just think of it as another part of the hike.

This is a nice hike of moderate difficulty but be aware that on the weekends its almost impossible to find parking unless you come very early. I have had to leave before due to no parking! Otherwise it has pretty pacific coast views, it links up with the los liones canyon hike as well, which is longer and a bit less trafficked

This was a nice moderate hike. The trail path is easy to follow and the views are great. It's somewhat of a standard Santa Monica Mountains/Pacific Palisades trail. The more I go to these different trails the more that I realize that many of them connect and for me the journey a lot of times is just seeing where the path takes me. The views are essentially the same but from higher vistas and deeper into the mountains you see things that give each their own character. I've been to Los Liones trail and relatively speaking this is a little easier. Apparently they connect at some point.

It's a gradual climb, but can be moderately difficult at the beginning. There isn't any shade so be prepared if you go on a sunny day. You'll see a lot of lizards and there are signs that warn of rattlesnakes. This trail is not pet friendly and I wouldn't take a young child too far because of the initial climb and lack of shade. I can say that on this particular day there was a decent amount people on the path. I imagine it being busier when the sun is out and the sky is clear.

I ended up taking this to the Parker Mesa Overlook and it was highlight of the trek up. Whether it's Temescal, Los Liones or any trail within the Santa Monica Mountains/Will Rogers Park area you'll be greeted with some great views. The journey, scenery and curiosity alway propels me up to see something special. The remainder of the hike to that point was relatively easy but also started to seem redundant because you didn't know when it would end but once I got there it was worth it.

This is a nice hike with some beautiful views and I can't wait to get back on a clearer day.

This was a pretty enjoyable hike with a beautiful view at the end. The path is very wide and well maintained. I would say it’s somewhere on the upper end of “easy”/low end of “moderate” as far as difficulty goes. It’s a gradual incline most of the way to the overlook. Bring lots of water and sunscreen because there is very little shade and it can get hot. Parking in the neighborhood is limited, so if it’s a busy day it might be hard to find a spot near the trail head.

Beautiful, relatively chill trail for an afternoon walk! It was completely foggy so the views weren’t as expansive as we hoped, but being up in the clouds was a magical experience in its own right. Completed in about 2.5 hours with some time spent up top.

This was a pretty straightforward trail that was a steady 2.5 mile incline until the very top. I’d definitely consider it moderate. Would be a great trail for running as well. The top is a great view of the city and ocean with a couple benches to enjoy the lookout. There’s also a legit porta-potty as well up top. Still, this germaphobe wouldn’t use it. Parking was tough along the residential area. Very little shade if it’s sunny. Trail is shared with mountain bikers. I did notice that fellow hikers were not as friendly as I’ve experienced on other trails.

What a view

Wednesday, January 03, 2018

Amazing views the entire trail, final outlook was beautiful. I was able to park on the street adjacent to the trailhead. Got there at 7am on a Wednesday and there were already a few cars. Not a ton of street parking available so you can consider the Los Liones parking area and then hiking up if later in the day. There is no lot here. Saw about a dozen people on trail, more later in the day. Took me a little longer than 2 hours round trip with some time spent at the top. The entire approach is a steady incline uphill. Not much shade if sunny, bring sunscreen and water! I saw some neat wildlife on the trail, birds rabbits and a small snake.
