Awesome ocean views, great picnic area, pretty canyon views This is a great hike from the Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park to the Parker Mesa Overlook. The first section of the trail meanders through a lovely oak grove with lush green grass. Above Trippet Ranch, the trail traverses the ridgeline between Topanga and Santa Ynez Canyons, with views of giant sandstone slabs and the ocean peaking out between the folds of the mountains. The vista from the Parker Mesa Overlook is stunning. You can see all of the LA basin laid out before you, the snow capped San Gabriel Mountains to the north, Catalina Island to the south, and the crescent shaped coastline of Santa Monica to the east.

Very nice and clean trail. It was an easy trail, very little inclines. About 6.8 miles back and fourth trail. Connects to los Leones trail and got to see that beautiful ocean view. Hiked Labor Day 2018 at 12 pm, very little traffic. Perfect running trail for the way down.

This was one of the more scenic hikes I’ve done in LA. The views (on a clear day) are amazing and once you hit the peak you get a nice [reward] panoramic view of the shoreline and cityscape. I clocked in 7 miles from start to finish on this one. I would rate this as an easy to moderate hike. It’s an incline for most of the way up (not TOO steep but does give you a workout) but there are many parts of level ground. What makes it a bit more strenuous is the distance. The trail is exposed so bring hats, wear sunscreen and bring water. I went around 2pm and ran into hikers/bikers maybe every quarter mile or so, not too busy. Saw people coming up to the overlook point from different trails so assuming many other trails lead to this peak.

Great trail, beautiful views! Would put this towards more moderate but well worth it. We got there early, 8.30am Saturday morning and were only a couple of other people around. Got a lot busier on the way back around 11am.

One of my favorite hikes in L.A. if you want to make this hike more challenging, there is an alternate route that will turn this into a 5 mile loop. From the main entrance on los liones, go left and down to cross the concrete. Follow the trail and about 50 meters in you will see another trail on your left that goes up the steep hillside. From there it is 1.4 miles to parker mesa overlook but be warned it is quite steep. You will gain 1300 feet in 1.4 miles, expect to cover this distance in 45 minutes to an hour depending on how many breaks you take. Shoes with good traction are recommended. I take this way up and the regular easy way down to make it a loop, going back this way is not recommended as it is quite steep.

A moderate hike, mostly uphill. Try to start in the afternoon after the fog is lifted otherwise you won't get much of a view.

This is a moderately difficult hike. Steep up hill and down. Beautiful views are your reward.

Easy trail open spaces and you are not too exposed.

It isn't really easy...more like moderate in my opinion...1,300 ft of elevation gain after all.

This is one of my favorites. Last time I hiked it was 3/19 and when I got to the top the entire ocean view was covered in clouds so it looked like I was on top of the clouds! I started late and got back to the parking lot later than I wanted to. The whole trail is about 6 miles and pretty easy but there's some incline so allow yourself a few hours. Parking is available on the street before you enter the park so you don't have to pay.

i was scrolling through the list, looking for a new trail, when I saw that this one was labeled easy. Having done it several times, I didnt recall it being that easy so I did it again. It is easy if you hike a lot but given that it is 6 miles RT, about half of which is without shade, and that there are significant ascents and descents, I would rate it as moderate. It is certainly easier than coming up the other side to Parker Mesa but not a walk in the park. :-)

Great views

This is one of my favorite trails in LA. Part of it is on fire roads so it's not like being in the backwoods but it's a good incline and one of my favorite views of LA.

This trail has nice views and it's a good leg workout. It took me 2hrs 1/2 to finish following the trail track, overall it has an awesome and peaceful view towards the ocean.
