Absolutely beautiful with so many unique features! First split - left is upper meadows and right is Gray Butte. Second split once you get to the meadow on top, right is a loop through a forest that eventually leads to a sacred natural spring. Unfortunately we saw a penny in there, can’t believe someone would actually throw money in here :-( The flowers are always blooming and the views are stunning. If you are lucky, you’ll see hundreds of monarch butterfly all around you on the lower meadow. Please stay on trail, we see lots of people wander off and it just kills this beautiful place.
Giving it a 5 as I had no idea the alpine flowers were in full bloom right now was so beautiful; parked at campground and walked up to left of campground well marked trail with sign but once get edge of meadow go right and walk over the water trail and continue left to middle of trail ( going left takes you back to upper parking lot) wish we would’ve parked at upper at trailhead and went down but limited spots. Peaceful listening to the spring flowing through flowers fairly easy hike middle section has a rocky 100 yards
Gorgeous trail, so unique and stunning with the springs and the wildflower meadow. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Please keep in mind that it is considered to be a very sacred place. Unfortunately a lot of people going off trail to picnic and many without masks.
Nice hike with beautiful wild flowers in August. Trail head is not that easy to find at first coming from the south end through the Panther Meadows campground. On our way up there was a nudist woman about 25 feet off the trail, was upset that she had no regard for other people. I had to have my kids revert their eyes. Other than that it was nice.
Awesome hike lots of very cool views. Saw Castle Crags in the distance. We did that last weekend! Hiking with my husband on the weekends is the best medicine!
A few too many people for me & a bit sunny, but beautiful flowers and views of Mt. Shasta. Likely better on a non-holiday weekday.
Great trail. Not a lot of shade. Recommend parking at lower lot and going all the way up on foot.
