The view is nice and extensive! The gate is currently closed, so one has to walk the road up to the panoramic point. There still are a couple of patches of snow but nothing terrible, usual closed shoes would do. Took us 1:50 to go up, enjoy the view, and back. Enjoyed it!

The road that leads you out here is closed in winter so we were not able to make it to the trailhead during February.

This is a great beginning snowshoe! But the winter miles are far different from the summer. In the winter you will need to snowshoe the road so it will be about 5.5 miles not .5 miles and a bit more elevation gain. It’s worth it. The views are great!

Great views. Easy trail but this might be your first trail after driving up from the valley since it's close to Grants Grove lodge. In other words, you might not be acclimated to the elevation. My friend and I went up there and he was having some issues with breathing and I noticed I was it was harder than normal. That's when I realized the altitude sickness. In any case, just be aware. Good thing it is an easy hike. The drive up is more challenging (from the valley and from the lodge). The road from the lodge is one lane, period. Both directions share one lane, so you might have to pull to the side is someone is going the other way.

Nice point of view from the "end". Easy access for disabled because it paved all the way.

Super easy trail to the panoramic point. The view is amazing once you get there. I got here at 3:30pm and about 20 people came up behind me in the next 30 minutes who were not quiet at all. Since this trail is so easily accessible, be aware that you may not get isolated time by yourself at the actual point. The view of Hume lake, kings canyon and the mountain range are well worth it though!

Nice hike, decent views all around. Probably more worthwhile when you can ascend the fire tower.

Rented snow shoes from Grant Grove Village. Then started by John Muir Lodge. Did not quite make it to the fire tower. Never encountered another hiker. Amazing views at Panoramic Point and from the Ridge just beyond!
