Trail for day use is closed due to fires supposedly. They only allow the people who are camping there to access the trails. That’s what the ranger said. He wasn’t very polite about it either...

Very nice overlook - $10 day use fee to access. Rocky in a lot of places and the trail can be hard to spot

trail kind of tapers off after the first peak is reached. Make sure that you're well enough grounded on the descent. loose rocks.

Pay the $10 parking fee and go left as soon as you drive in. You’re going to park at the far end of that campground loop. The trailhead is clearly marked. At first you switchback up and the trail is very clear, but after the initial ascent, the trail pretty much disappears and you have to find your own way. I wish I would’ve brought my trekking poles for this one. There were a lot of loose rocks, making the descent slow in spots, so I didn’t fall. I would’ve felt more stable with my trekking poles. I did see a herd of bighorn sheep though. I think because this trail is less popular, you may get a little more lucky in that regard. Also, the view was beautiful.

Easy trail with nice views of Anza Borrego and the Salton Sea. Did it as a part of San Ysidro mountain.

Great trail to hike at sunset or sunrise. You can see all of Borrego Springs at the top. Easy access from the campground. Quite rocky so use good shoes.
