I only got to hike the San Diego County area , my son was supposed to hike the whole trail in 2016!, but unfortunately he passed away in a car crash in December of 2015 . So in his memory I did the hike in San Diego County since I recently moved down here. It’s a very beautiful hike and I applaud everyone who has hike it or getting ready to hike it.

I'm in awe of every hiker who has completed this trail and everybody who attempts it. You inspire me. This trail looks fantastic from what I have seen on YouTube and what I have heard about it. I wish I could attempt it but it is physically impossible for me to thru hike it due to medical reasons. You all are awesome. Happy trails... ☺

Great trail

Sunday, April 10, 2016

My family enjoyed hiking here, love the mountain views. Our kids brought our dogs in a leash, we recommend this trail only during spring or fall. There are hardly any trees for shade, or rocks to sit on and rest. The sand felt loose like a river ran there at one point.

This used to be a great hiking trail, especially in summer as most of it's on the north face of Mt. Gleason. Had some old growth redwoods, tall pines, etc. However, since the devastating 2009 Station Fire this section of the PCT has been closed and re-routed. Uncertain what, if any, has survived or when it will be re-opened. Wish the Forestry Dept. would re-open and allow us taxpayers access again, after all we are paying for it.
