Great trail to walk your dog. Views include the 5 N and the valley. There are horses on the trail, make sure you move out of their way and your dog doesn't spook them. My dog sat in awe as I fed him treats and he watched them walk right past him. Stay away from the sides of the trail, rattlesnakes like to hide in all the leaves.

This is a nice long and convenient hike. There is some shade (by LA standards). The trail is not well marked so we go lost several times. There were not a lot of people and the trail was very well preserved.

Way too many people on the trail. If you like nature then don't come on this trail because there's not much of it.

Easy hike there is no shade, but the old zoo is the major attraction..

Super chill trail. I’m always cautious about hiking alone but you’re never too far from the main road. There are some narly steep inclines (not many). Good for trail running, except some parts are very grainy & sandy so traction isn’t the best at certain points. Fun hike though, good sight seeing :)

Beautiful short trail. This was a nice Sunday mid day hike. You are next to the freeway so expect to hear it. You also get a cool view of Burbank once you hit the top. Also lots of wildflowers are blooming!

Great hike, but don't leave anything in the car. My dumb mistake. I left my purse in the car...covered, but someone smashed the window and stole my purse and boyfriend's backpack. Just be aware.

CW direction (above Ventura Hwy) is nice. CCW part is awful. Be sure not to park on museum parking (it closes at 4 pm).

great trail for the first half or two thirds. after that is freeway side path back. dont worry too much about going on the wrong trail, most of them come back together anyway. just keep an eye on the gps.

Great hike. If you follow signs you won’t get lost and if you get off track, jus explore a new place. This is a nice hike for early morning. No bikes allowed in the trail, which is great. As the afternoon approaches you will encounter horseback riders, just remember they have the right-of-way. Enjoy.

Trail was very confusing at points and covered with horse poop for the first 2.5 miles. Most of this hike is directly next to roads, but the zoo part is cool and the trails are pretty

Took our kids yesterday and it was a great hike! There’s some type of bridge at the very top of the mountain. We didn’t hike that far but looks cool!

Straightforward loop, with the Old Zoo as an interesting note about halfway through. Difficulty comes in length and long ups and long descents. Go early and bring a hat because there are some unshaded parts. Also do the part up the hills to the Old Zoo first, because the half near the highway is long and flat, and the hike up is both more tiring and more fun. Great long hike though, I recommend it!

I wouldnt say this hike is 7 miles long. we parked in the parking lot right in front of the old park. it takes under 5 minutes to get too and 20 minutes to look through. there is a look out point up on the hill, which is a lot of fun to get too.

This an 8.26 mike hike, not a 7 mike hike. It also gets confusing when you get to the zoo area because you have to cross the parking lot and the grassy lawn to get the the crosswalk in order to get to the other part of the hike, which is where most of the horses go. We loved the first part but once you follow the side of the road then behind the Autry, it get boring.

First off, the address on this app is wrong and took you to a train stop 8 min away. Just type in “old zoo” info your phone. This place is lowkey ratchet. I walked past it and didn't even realize, got lost trying to go up the upper zoo trail and found my way back. Even regulars say that they still get messed up trying to remember where it is, even though it's literally right next to the parking lot. I thought it would have super cool graffiti, as I am a big fan of street art, but this was just poor quality vandalism. I thought it was a slap in the face to see that people had tagged the trees, rocks, and the signs that could point you in the right direction/tell you about the history of the zoo. The old zoo itself was super dilapidated in a not cool way (can you say old ANIMAL PRISON). It also smelled terrible and I even saw a bottle of piss. Then there were these hoodlums blasting metal in the picnic area and hidden in pockets on the hills smoking weed and drinking beers, which they probably littered. I would probably come here if I was a goth kid in middle school trying to find a place outside my parents house to drink keystone ice and smoke cigs. Also, there's coyotes roaming around so that was also sketch. TLDR: you will leave this place wanting to make sure you put on hand sanitizer and wanting to dart out promptly before dusk. And the hike itself was underwhelming.

This was good. Started at train town walked towards highway. The back half after the old zoo is not flat. It gets hilly!

Long one but a good one. Old zoo ruins everywhere. Many movies have been filmed here. Free parking. The benches at the park are a plus.

Lots of creepy old abandoned cages and confines to see. The stairs leading up to Amir's Garden is a great way to get in a quick cardio workout.
