Mostly on asphalt. Mostly an out-and-back but with a little looping in the middle. Most others are up there for mountain biking

Kicked my butt and enjoyed every minute. Spectacular views!

beautiful trail with nice vistas. loads of wildflowers in late April. watch for mountain hikers and beware the western loop from the Higgins trailhead is a full on mountain bike course

Lots of little offshoots! Lots of bikes. Lots of great ocean views :)

Best to stay on main trail. Side trails for xtreme biking especially the Mile trail.

Beautiful trail with stunning views in several spots towards the top. We were hiking with our two dogs and the only issue was the amount of bike traffic, so we kept having to scoot over and pull our dogs aside as the trail was not wide in a lot of spots. If you're looking for a bike trail, this is a great spot! But not so great for hikers looking to tune out as you do have to stay very aware of bikes!

Not great for a windy day but great views of the ocean and a lot of it is shaded.

Quiet steep in few places, if you go off trail a bit- even harder but fun. Parts of it are paved indeed, but I didn’t find it to take away from the experience.

There wasn’t that much elevation but we ended up above the clouds overlooking Pacifica and the ocean. It was beautiful! Be prepared for sun exposure even when the entire area seems cloudy when you start.

This trail was awesome! When I arrived it was covered in fog and beautiful. The terrain varies from dirt and leaves to gravel to rock so definitely wear comfortable hiking boots and bring plenty of water. The hike was challenging at times but very pleasant over all. Start early to be the crowd.

Wonderful moderate hike. The different terrain was lovely and the view of the ocean was spectacular! Total hike is 11.5 miles, and all worth it!

Always gorgeous views of the coastline, however the trail is steep with uneven footing in some places so make sure you’re steady on your feet

Absolutely loved this trail! There was one portion near the summit called "the crack" on the map that was Rocky, steep, and a bit challenging but otherwise moderate. The views once you get above the fog are absolutely stunning. Nice bits of shade for parts of the trail, but some long sections are exposed. I enjoyed one section of the trail so much that I looked back to complete it again, and I extended at the far end to explore Gray whale cove-- the views were worth it. 12.87 miles/4h23min. The trail is heavily trafficked by bikes so be sure to listen for them.

Cool hike!

So amazing- loved this trail and was not too difficult, esp. with a good bike! I started in Pacifica and went all the way to Moss Beach, where my family joined me by car and picked me up. - The trail continues down Montara Mountain and goes behind Sun Valley Equestrian, all the way to the town of Moss Beach.

Pretty gentle up and downhills, but not much of a trail (mostly an old asphalt road)

This is a gorgeous place to witness a scenic view of green hills and the blue of the Pacific Ocean. My friend and I started the trail from the old San Pedro Road to Montara State Beach. We saw so many bunnies - two horses taking a walk and lizards! It's worth it and beautiful.

Solid trail that starts in trees before climbing out to low lying vegetation and views of Pacifica and the ocean.
