Hiking trail is closed about 1.5 miles into the Old Haul Rd trail but you can loop around using Pomponio Trail (turns into a single track instead of a firetrail).

WalkingMuddy

Walked the trail today. Started from the Hoffman Creek Trailhead between Memorial and Pescadero Creek County Parks and walked to the end of the (public) trail and back. Corrections are needed to the entry. The trail is marked on the San Mateo County Parks as a 5.4-mile trail - marked from the entrance into the park, not from the trailhead to the end of Pescadero Creek park when the trail becomes a private road into a managed forest area with no public access. The trail itself is a former logging road so, for the most part, is wide and pretty well managed (the last mile gets pretty narrow and overgrown but still a car width wide. The trail winds its way thru the forested area across the park acting as the backbone with the rest of the trails as an offshoot and creeks flowing under the trails. Very quiet and a nice walk with some elevations. The day I traversed the trail was the day after a week of pretty persistent rain, so there were some puddles and muddy/loose footing at places. Didn't see anyone on the trail until the last 2 miles on the walk back to the trailhead.

Hiking

Most of this trail follows an old rail bed, so except for near the trail head it is very easily graded (and just a few hills at the start otherwise). There is a spur trail that will take you into Portola SP near the HQ. The trail Is good for hiking running and beginner MTB. I have seen wild pigs on the trail.

First to Review

Great ride with good climbs for the intermediate rider but not too much for the beginner in most cases. Lots of shade for hot summer days and doesn't get too sloppy in the rain. Trailhead is near Pescadero Creek Rd and Wurr Rd.
