Starts out in nursery grounds then crosses road to walk alongside riparian area before heading up onto ridge past a few shady oaks. Good view across the San Pasqual Valley to Wild Animal Park from the top of the ridge.

We enjoyed this hike yesterday, even though it was twice as long as we expected at the start 10.2 miles vs. the 5.1 miles that we expected. We also thought it was end atop a 1,500 ft peak but it ended in a ridge about 700 feet. Stlll it has lots of shady trees, primarily stays in the river valley and we made great time 4 hours, because the trail was mostly sand or dirt. We hiked from a parking lot at Sunset Drive to Raptor Ridge and back.
