This is a great option if you are camping at Del Valle Campground. This hike passes Schlieper Rock and the Pear Orchards. Take the Sailor camp trail to the Ohlone Trail. Climb Big Burn to Schlieper Rock then turn right onto Springboard Trail. after .63 mile take the left towards Rowell Ridge. Return via the way you came on Ohlone Trail

this trail has some strong incline and is not very forgiving, especially at the beginning. but its very nice layout, well marked and offers decent shade and views along the way. this specific trail is often getting confused with the full trail, even in these comments. however, thus portion is great for quick training or a nice 3 hour hike.

The highlighted loop does not cover Murietta falls. Great hike, definitely a challenging one, no human traffic. All trails map is very helpful, however the markers aren't in all trails so could literally lose the forest for the trails. Watch out for parking the car where they don't close the gate at 4 pm.

One of the toughest hikes I've done. Started from Del Valle and made it to Murrieta Falls. I would recommend it! be ready for a tough hike, there are sections that are very steep, all my leg muscles were burning but the day was cloudy and cool so it wasn't terrible. The place is well maintained, and it is worth the price, if you start from del valle the park charges 5 dollars each permit.

Some long hard up hills but I wouldn't do the round about again just stay to left at the fork and make your way to the waterfall instead 5 miles one way I think

On April 30, 2016, we hiked from Del Valle to Sonul for 20 miles. The view on the east of Rose Peak is better than that on the west. The east side also has more shade. The trails are well maintained and clearly marked.

This was a hard hike. A lot of uphill. It was not shaded and would be warm in summer. The view was pretty though, and a nice trail!
