Some rocky parts. A nice mix between uphill and flat terrain. We went when it was cool and drizzling- perfect weather. Parking is open & posted sign says 7am-7pm

This is a gem of a trail in the area. I have hiked a lot of the other trails in Cuyamaca and this one stands out just a little for its gorgeous scenes, running water, and fantastic peak experience. Flies abound after about 8:00 a.m., but as stated elsewhere, you’re fine as long as you’re moving. Lots of gorgeous flowering plants, rabbits, lizards, and birds. We were up and back at an easy pace in less than 2.5 hours.

Great great trail. This is the first actual moderate hike I’ve done. The trail is overgrown, it has a constant incline and very nice view. Not crowded at all. There is no shade once you 0.5 mile into the trail. Make sure you have water, shade and shoes with good grips. The parking spots are not that many but it’s doable. The park is open. The trail is open.

Good trail. Well marked. Lots of poison oak and bugs. Horse flies were pretty aggressive when you stop. So don’t stop! Views from the top were excellent. Went on a Sunday so more traffic but really not many people. Parking difficult because lots are closed. Took our kids who did well. Lots of beautiful wildflowers, lizards, and butterflies to see!

I hiked this trail about a month ago. It’s great exercise and the creek crossings are a lot of fun. Solid trail!

Extremely well maintained trail and not crowded at all (current state of affairs might be a big contributor to the latter, though). Gorgeous views and nice steady grade with essentially no scrambling. Great hike!

This was a great hike, definitely one of my favorites now. Very enjoyable to hike. The trail is well maintained just a tad overgrown near the top but anything over the top. Such an easy trail very gradual incline, does not feel like you are climbing at all. multiple stream crossings probably no more than 2-3 feet across. Nice Oaks around the stream. You'll go on the fire road briefly so just look for the trail on the right side. I was the only person out there the entire time, very peaceful. Parking is at the oakzanita trailhead immediately right after the first Cuyamaca Rancho State Park sign on the right side.

Thoroughly enjoyed this trail. Lots of water running in the stream, great views the entire time, and extremely well groomed. Will definitely come back.

With the exception of missing the trail and adding 4 extra miles. This one was beautiful hike. Cold and just right.

This was an awesome hike. Couple of tiny water crossings that I’m sure would be significantly larger right after a heavy rain. Was 25° when we started not too long after sunup so there were numerous patches that were slick with ice on the way up, then starting to melt into muddy slush on the way down after spending some time at the top. Also, it’s a little over 6 miles round-trip, not 5.4 for anyone who wants a more exact mileage. Will definitely hit this up again though. The view was amazing.

Not that difficult of a hike, with amazing views. 3 miles up, and 3 miles down

Really nice hike. 6.0 miles round trip. Ascent is very gradual . . . hardly realize you’re climbing 1,000 feet. Gorgeous views at summit.

Little bit of soft ice/snow as you get higher. Beautiful views right now. Rain and some more snow (I think) are coming today and tomorrow.

Excellent overall hike highly recommend and well worth it. The best part is no overgrown brush so you have a clear hiking trail the entire time. Incredible view at the top of the peak, especially at sunset. Took me a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes and 6.1 miles there and back.

This is the perfect San Diego trail. Shady and not crowded; good length; nice uphill climb but well-graded and never too steep. Oak trees line nearly the whole hike, and you are rewarded with a little bit of (optional) boulder climbing at the very top, opening up to beautiful 360-degree views. Great hike!.
