Hi Barbie. The photos don't accurately reflect the drive and the waterfalls are actually in Yosemite Valley. This trail is basically hwy 49 between Oakhurst and Mariposa. That said, you might want to stop along the way anyway at some of the sites and businesses. We did get hit hard recently with damage to a lot of ponderosa pines from the bark beetle infestation, however except for that there are some great views, places to stop and people to see along the way. IE:discover the history of Oakhurst at Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park in Oakhurst or stop off at The Hitching Post in Ahwahnee for an absolutely HUGE hamburger and then take a stroll at the Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park or stop off at The Mariposa Coffee Company near Boot Jack and ask Jerry to show you how he roasts the best coffee around and then finish up at the Mariposa County Courthouse (the oldest courthouse in use west of the Rocky Mountains) and finally the Mariposa Museum & History Center which is a great hands on place to see how California got its start. I love it up here, can you tell? Just say'n.

Beautiful drive and wonderful area. There was quite a bit of construction along this route though when we came through, which chewed up a lot of the road and created many LONG waits. If that's all finished up, then i'd give it 5 stars.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful drives you'll ever take. Don't bother going too far outside of the park because it's not nearly as interesting, but make the journey through Yosemite. Allow enough time to stop frequently because you'll want plenty of pictures of all the beauty around you.
