Unable to access the trail via Birch Creek Lane. Locked gate with Private Property/ No Trespassing signs. Adjacent roadside roped off with No Parking signs. Be aware that you can access the same area from the Bearpaw Preserve on the other side of the ridge, just off Highway 38. You need a permit to access the preserve (and a code to enter the locked gate,). however you can obtain a permit free online. The distance and elevation to the top of the divide trail are about the same. The Bearpaw trail is not on the Alltrails map, however this is a well maintained truck trail to the top of the ridge.
