Nice views...a really easy and nice trail for an evening walk..Make sure to have a map before starting. Not sufficient trail signs and sometimes incorrect.

Easy hike to beautiful views. Parked in the free parking at the entrance of the park. Then took the Penitencia creek trail to the north rim trail... that led up to eagles rock

Great trail... could be intimidating at first, but once you reach Eagle Rock and the view its well with it.

Take the Penitencia Trail first and hook up to this trail up to Eagle Rock. There are beautiful meadows of mustard flowers carpeting the hills in Spring.

Parked at rustic lands (free) and took the Penitencia creek trail east through the valley floor. Then we started on the north rim trailhead as indicated on this map. When you get to Eagle rock, look out for great views of circling hawks and turkey vultures. This actually ended up being a nice scenic loop because you can get back to rustic lands easily from Eagle rock (no need to backtrack to the trailhead).

Fun but views are pretty steady

In summer the view become wee~dy, and its kind of boring. Some up and down so it's a good walk after work for me. Park in the rustic lands spot it's free and the youth center marked as the start here is NOT free.

Just did this hike and I really liked the weather loop you can connect to. Easy to talk and hike or good for beginners.

It wasn't the best hike I've done, but it had a decent view. There is no shade, so prepare for the hot sun!!! go early, or when it gets a little cold. overall it was okay.

It's a short steep trail. Lots of bikers but the trail is wide enough to share. The view from the top is decent but not bad. There's no shade so prepare to burn!

Nice and simple hike with rewarding views. pretty strenuous climb at first, especially when I'm carrying my son. After the initial elevation gain it's easy going.

Decent little trail, fairly easy, and nice views of San Jose and surrounding area. Beginning sand end of the trail (if you go on the weekends), all you hear is screaming kids and families from the picnic grounds below; kind of takes away from the serenity. But overall, a nice easy trail for a quick hike.

This is an easy hike on mostly a dirt road although it can be steep. No trees so it can be hot in summer, but the pay off is worth it. The top will reward you with the locally famous Eagle Rock, views of SF Bay and Hanger One at Moffet Field. People love climbing Eagle Rock and sitting on top to take in views of the Santa Clara Valley. There are a couple of benches at the top but no water. This can be a highlight to a visit to Alum Rock Park which has a few more good hikes, picnic areas and the Youth Science Institute.

mostly walking up a steep gravel road, but the views from the top are worth it. at least, once. a nice short hike to get a good view of the whole bay area. if you're up for a longer hike, a more panoramic view can be had from the summit atop the spur trail off the Boccardo loop trail from the north rim. but it's a hot, long hike to earn that one. watch out for rattle snakes sunning themselves in the evening. not sure how common, but i almost stepped on one at the top of Eagle Rock.
