Hiking

Easy hike, but bring water and expect to go through brush. Watch out for poison oak. Little known, there’s an old mine across the river, if you hike waaaay up. Haven’t been in a few years, but last time I went, they had collapsed the mine entrance. Old cars and processing plant were still there.

Hiking

A nice hike. You go miles in the hills before you get a good view of the North Fork. At almost 4 miles from the trailhead there were several sections of high scrub encroachment, so out of concern of ticks, I turned around. The trailhead is at Yucca Flats, the end of North Fork Road with miles of dirt/broken pavement road. The road is not too bad if you just go slow. I parked about 1/3 miles away and walked down because of a rut that looked a little too deep for a sedan. You actually cross over Yucca Creek shortly after leaving Yucca flats.

Where does this trail begin? Where is it in relation to the confluence of Yucca Creek and the North Fork of the Kaweah (Natl’ Park/BLM border)? ty

The hike was nice and easy. We didn’t see a lot of people which was nice too. :) The drive for me was scary so probably won’t be going there again because of that.

There are a few good spots along the river off of the trail if you look. Not a bad hike.

North Fork Dr is NOT paved all the way. It’s a pretty scary drive. 4-wheel drive recommended. We ended up pulling over and walking the rest of the road to the trail. The trail was gorgeous, although not maintained. The trail is a nice, easy hike along the creek.

Good easy trail to hike. Did 8 miles out and back in a new psir of boots. Not many parking places at trailhead. But did not see anyone on the trail with me.

Nice old road now trail. I'm guessing it goes about 12 miles so you can hike as far as you like. We normally do 3 hours up, rest, and return.
