Loop road is busy but there are plenty of side trails to wander, and the views are worth it!

HikingGreat!

I suggest starting on the paved portion first just to get it out of the way. The first half is paved and that section is great for families. The second portion is not paved and has a mixture of forest, dry sun exposed rolling hills, and beautiful views. Great hike, a little too crowded in some areas, and the paved bits took some of the magic away, but otherwise it had a good amount of elevation and scenery change.

Paved for a good part of it. Great mix of elevation up and down. Good mix of shady and sunny. Dry for the most part.

Nice trail but pretty crowded on weekends and Nimitz Way mainly paved, not very enjoyable personally. Otherwise good little workout to hike up Wildcat Peak.

Parking at inspiration point, lots of fog until about 11am in June. Otherwise, a pleasant, easy trail/paved path on a weekend morning with a few nice viewpoints and areas with picnic tables to have lunch!

Beginning is all paved, I would suggest to follow the map on this trail, narrow spots when you get into the mountains. It does get crowded in the afternoon. Some may have to park on the side street Very beautiful not hard at all! Good views of the SF bridge

Ok trail, not the best. It gets pretty crowded. A good part is on paved road. On the plus side, plenty of parking at Inspiration Point

Such a nice hike about 30 minutes outside of SF. Fortunately, it was only lightly trafficked. Wear plenty of sunscreen, there is a lot of trail with no shade. We saw deer, an owl, lots of birds, lizards, wildflowers and beautiful views. There was plenty of parking at the trail head and on the road nearby.

Hiking

Mostly open, very easy grades. Overall very nice especially if you can’t handle rough terrain or steep climbs / descents. Wear sunblock, especially on the meadow road. Fairly heavy traffic of walkers, joggers and bicyclists. Personally I’d rather start at my southern waypoint. Nice picnic area and 3 different routes that are pretty different, loop back and end on a decline.

Super gooey if it's been raining. I love a little mud but it turned into quite the slog. GORGEOUS views of the city though. Nimitz Way is pretty crowded at the moment, which isn-t great for social distancing... but once you get off that it was a lot quieter.

Excellent views and a good hike. I would recommend going on the trail side first if you want more of a challenge than the paved side when starting out on this hike. The Hike is not difficult but I gave 5 stars because of the amazing views!

Running

What an awesome trail! Started out on the paved road and turned into dirt - wide and single tracks. Make your way up to Peace Grove lookout for amazing 360 views at the 2 mile mark! Also, be sure to record this loop, we got off course several times but all trails corrected us. The last mile is a straight ascent but very doable. Some areas were slightly overgrown and miles 3-5 are cool/shaded.

Hiking

Hiked on mid June 2019. Nice trail with great view. The first 2 miles are gravel paved trail for bike. The parking is super windy felt a bit cold even for mid June. But as soon as you enter the trail the wind somehow disappeared. My wife thought the whole trail would be windy and cold so she wore a heavy jacket. After about a kilometer, I had to run to the car to put back the jacket as it became useless (too heavy and no more wind). A light windbreaker is plentiful enough. Be careful to check for direction every time you see a trail signs. Its easy to make a mistake as there are many trails interconnections.
