Nimitz Way to Laurel Canyon and Meadows Canyon is a 4.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Berkeley, California that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
Nimitz is way too crowded—dogs, strollers, bikes, scooters. It’s okay once you get off the paved road onto Laurel Canyon Road, but not my favorite loop. (Laurel Canyon Trail looks interesting though.)
Nice. Partially paved and a fair number of bikes. Two fellows with no masks and one partially on. I missed putting mine on as one person passed :/ Week of Xmas so probably more crowded than usual?
Fabulous hike. Today was 90° and I would say 40 to 50% of the trail is open to the sun, so definitely bring at least one water. There was great diversity in both trails and scenery, with the first third Starting out as a paved road and the remaining 2/3 a hard packed dirt road/path. The first 2/3 was very easy, iAs it was flat or mostly downhill. The last third was a steady incline, but thankfully it was a relatively low angle over the period of about a mile.
First half of the hike was mostly tarmac, then eventually went off road. Not to crowded midday and very well maintained Trail.
