A very nice hike up to Eagle Rock. One portion of the trail on the way up was a bit on the overgrown side but not to bad. I hiked it in December so heat wasn’t an issue but if you hike it during the summer months, you are going to want to have a hydration pack with you. The views from on top of Eagle Rock are pretty spectacular with the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Valley on the other. As always, be careful when you climb up on top of the Rock...it’s a long ways down....

Great little hike through some meadows and finally up a few hill to a great view from Eagle Rock. Great view of Malibu and the coastline on one side and a view of the snow cover mountain ranges on the other. Takes about a hour and a half to reach Eagle Rock.

On the trail, watch for a little poison oak on each side. The trail is nice and the end gives great views.

No shade on the ascent but plenty on the return. Easy incline, solid trail, great for testing new gear (boots, backpack) not far from civilization

The views are beautiful and trail winds around the mountain from open air to cool and shaded turns. Flowers of all kinds including ferns to be scene. The marsh area has mini frogs and other wild life to watch.

hiked this today, I did the trail counter clockwise. starting at the lot, then hitting camp Musch on my way back. there was actually rain today so I got a bit wet. stopped at Musch to get covered and made some friends with fellow hikers. loads of fun boulders to climb up on the way to eagle Rock, then on your way to Musch it becomes lovely flowers, birds and Meadows.

Lots of wildflowers today (end of April) that well compensated for the foggy day and limited views. Definitely do this trail counter clockwise (Fire Road trail up) as the views from the Fire Road trail should be excellent and thus make the uphill seem easier. We will definitely be back when it’s not foggy.

Eagle Rock express portion was crowded, Musch portion not so much. Be prepared for lots of basics at Eagle Rock looking for the perfect IG or profile pic. Musch trail is a little overgrown in parts, but the flowers blooming in the meadows are very pretty.

Seems like a great trail. About 1/4 mile in, stumbled upon a 3 ft rattlesnake that quickly slithered away. Another 1/4 mile in a much bigger (6ft) rattler descended from a berm onto the trail, obviously feeling threatened, coiled and rattling very loudly. I nearly jumped out of my skin and we turned back. Good reminder it’s rattlesnake season and we are in their home. Be vigilant. Wear shoes and long pants if you can. A hiking stick could also be useful.

The fire trail is very wide opened and exposed with great mountain and city views. The Musch trail is much narrower with lots of vegetation and cover. Sit on the rock and enjoy panoramic views of the city. As I read in another review, I would also recommend hiking counter-clockwise (fire trail first). Save the Musch trial for the hottest part of the day. We also encountered a rattlesnake so stay on the path.
