The views are beautiful and trail winds around the mountain from open air to cool and shaded turns. Flowers of all kinds including ferns to be scene. The marsh area has mini frogs and other wild life to watch.

Great hike: nice gradual climb, cool geology, great views, beautiful flowers. What's not to like?

hiked this today, I did the trail counter clockwise. starting at the lot, then hitting camp Musch on my way back. there was actually rain today so I got a bit wet. stopped at Musch to get covered and made some friends with fellow hikers. loads of fun boulders to climb up on the way to eagle Rock, then on your way to Musch it becomes lovely flowers, birds and Meadows.

Lots of wildflowers today (end of April) that well compensated for the foggy day and limited views. Definitely do this trail counter clockwise (Fire Road trail up) as the views from the Fire Road trail should be excellent and thus make the uphill seem easier. We will definitely be back when it’s not foggy.

Eagle Rock express portion was crowded, Musch portion not so much. Be prepared for lots of basics at Eagle Rock looking for the perfect IG or profile pic. Musch trail is a little overgrown in parts, but the flowers blooming in the meadows are very pretty.

Seems like a great trail. About 1/4 mile in, stumbled upon a 3 ft rattlesnake that quickly slithered away. Another 1/4 mile in a much bigger (6ft) rattler descended from a berm onto the trail, obviously feeling threatened, coiled and rattling very loudly. I nearly jumped out of my skin and we turned back. Good reminder it’s rattlesnake season and we are in their home. Be vigilant. Wear shoes and long pants if you can. A hiking stick could also be useful.

The fire trail is very wide opened and exposed with great mountain and city views. The Musch trail is much narrower with lots of vegetation and cover. Sit on the rock and enjoy panoramic views of the city. As I read in another review, I would also recommend hiking counter-clockwise (fire trail first). Save the Musch trial for the hottest part of the day. We also encountered a rattlesnake so stay on the path.

Went there with a bunch of good friends and had a great time. 4.4 miles are good for working out and the eagle rock on the top makes the trail more interesting. Definitely one of my fav in LA. And topanga is good I like it. Less crowded

A nice medium level hike with a great reward at the end in the large rock formations you can climb on. Amazing view of Topanga canyon and the ocean

Good Trail, usually pretty quiet and not a lot of people. Beautiful rock formation at the end plus slight ocean views on a clear day

Moderate hike with rewarding 360 views. Very cool caves to take a nap and or meditate. Read signs when parking, the locals will guide you via signs. I will be back, no dogs allowed is the only bummer but understood.

Very accessible, but not overwhelmingly great. Didn't feel like I was very removed from LA. Residential area and decent amount of people for a Tuesday afternoon.

beautiful hike with many beautiful views. when you get to eagle Rock , you can climb up and relax up in the rock and take the fire road back night hiking this trail is well worth it. visit my i.g Skyhighhiking

A moderate hike with great chaparral/canyon scenery. There's plenty of shady, but I still recommend going early in the morning or late in the afternoon on hot days. The main downside is that it's heavily trafficked. That's to be expected in the easily-accessible Santa Monica Mountains, though.

It’s a nice trail with some hard-to-find cover along the way. There are great views at Eagle Rock and more trails to extend your hike. However, California’s drought has left so many of these trails dry and burnt. It is depressing to witness and should cause us all to give pause when driving our SUVs to these trailheads.

Hikenites.la and skyhighhiking follow for weekly night hikes around La. We hiked on 7/9 around 11:30pm. Small group of 7, really nice trail, glimpse of many terrains, easy ascend to the top. Nice views all around. Hiked down the fire road. Easier but not much to enjoy. Really nice weather since its been really hot during the day. Saw some deer by where we parked. No mountain lion sightings. Safe all around.

Great moderate trail that goes through some brush and trees with a great reward at the top of a fantastic view of the Valley on one side and the ocean on the other side. I would do it again!

Beautiful hike. Single trail heading up with plenty of shade. Great views so take your time and look around. The caves at Eagle Rock are neat. We arrived at 8:30am on a Saturday and paid $10 for parking. Parking was wide open. When we returned around 12pm the parking was very full. Bathrooms are very clean.

Arrived at the trailhead at 815am and was able to snag a free parking spot on the road. Took the fire road up as it was before the sun got too hot. Little coverage, but beautiful views. Eagle Rock was empty, only one other gal at the top. Make sure you sign the journal in the ‘cave’! Took the Musch Trail down, which was only single track and quite overgrown. Only saw a few places with horse poop. Not too many people at all. Overall the trail was great, I would do it again. But where were the ocean views????
