Part of the redwood creek trail was inaccessible because of a washed out bridge, and the rest of it was quite overgrown. We ended up walking back along the road. The Muir Woods portion of the hike was nice.

Parked at Muir Beach parking lot then walked an additional 1/2 mile to the trailhead. Hiked clockwise - the first several miles are a gentle hike through a pretty valley; then a steady uphill 2.5 mile climb on the Redwood Creek Trail / Dipsea Trail. Trail then meanders along TCC Trail for several miles followed by a steep descent along the Bookjack Trail into the Muir Woods Monument. Then back through the initial meadow and back to the start. The rating on this trail is “easy’”. This is not a difficult hike but an “easy” rating can be misleading considering the entire loop from the parking lot is 12 miles of mountain hiking.

Tough ascent up the Dipsea but it's a beautiful run!

We planned for all day hiking but we were just a newbie.... When we got there deep sea trail was under construction so it was quite confusing as where to start .. And we decided to take Muir beach trail hoping to get to Muir beach but it does not take you to Muir beach instead it takes you to a driving road to Muir beach which is not an ideal path for hiking as there are vehicles on the road so we changed our route to costal trail

Love this hike. If you are traveling to San Francisco take some time to hike the Muir Woods. Great experience and an easy hike!
