Muir Beach to Hill 88 is a 8.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Sausalito, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.
Great workout constantly going up and down. Lots and lots of people though, so probably go in the middle of the week next time and not on a holiday
mostly open space if the day is sunny expect to get full sun all day, nice views, also golden gate view, full leg workout all the way.
It was beautiful throughout. We took alternate routes at times to sight see. This was definitely a moderate to hard trail.
Absolutely beautiful trail! Be careful hiking this when it’s hot. There’s barely any shade. I had to take a lot of breaks due to the extremely hot weather. Bring lots of water and electrolytes.
Gorgeous, low traffic on a Wednesday night. Excellent view of the sunset, decent night run with a head lamp. Good hills!
Great hike with beautiful views of the coast. I have to say the first two miles are breathtaking! After that, trails are pretty steep which was much harder than anticipated. The level rated is more between moderate and hard. Overall, we enjoyed the views except for the three snakes we encountered.
If you’re headed to hill 88, GO BACK THE SAME WAY YOU CAME FROM! We made the mistake of taking an alternate route back by looking at google maps and ended up getting lost. Learn from our terrible mistake and do not use google maps. It’ll seem like there’s an alternate way but there really isn’t. We ended up wasting an hour to get back on the correct trail and by then we were extremely exhausted. What should of taken about 4 hours, took us 8 1/2 hours to get back to our car and the trek isn’t an easy one. This is a pretty moderate-high hike, however the views are definitely beautiful. Enjoy!
Going in is WAAAYYY harder than on the way out. If you’re a slow hiker like me, plan for extra time on the way in. The views are breathtaking. Got to see bunnies, deer, and hummingbirds along the way. Definitely recommend this trail!
This is one of my favorite trails! Great ocean view!
What an AMAZING hike. Tough, sure but so worth it. The views are absolutely breathtaking. If you hike this, take your time to stop, not just to catch your breath but also to soak up those views and enjoy nature.
Moderate hike for anyone who can easily hike for a full day. Took me 2.5 hours one way (Muir Beach to Rodeo Beach), including a detour to Tennessee Valley Beach.
