A nice hike. Fresh wildflowers are gone. At the Chumash notch and heading up the Mugu Peak direct trail (North West ascent) it got fairly windy. The recent rains dampened down the dirt which made it an easier ascent than usual. Would have been easier for a descent too, but I went down the Mugu Peak trail side (South East).

Intense but so much amazing stuff packed into a short trail! I highly recommend going right at the fork as it splits the hike up into 2 sections nicely. Plus the left side ascent is kind of loose and mostly dirt and much much steeper, and not really in a fun way.

Absolutely spectacular trail, got there late and was unfortunately unable to complete the loop. But it was so breathtaking and challenging that I’m excited to go back!!! Highly recommend!

Beautiful trail! There are views the whole time. The entrance is just off the PCH, so no bathrooms or anything.

If you enjoy the near constant sound of gunfire from the shooting range below, then this hike might be for you.

This was a hard trail but it was fun. You get unbeaten views of the mountains behind and open ocean views. Left side of the actual peak is steep and the right side is more gradual.

Steep incline with no shade practically the whole way but a great workout. Beautiful views and a lovely breeze to cool you off. We’ve been using this trail to train for Mt Baldy.

9/2/19 this trail is physically demanding. Anyone can do this trail, but depending on your fitness level you may need to stop to catch your breathe. The first ~1.3 miles you will be walking uphill. It’s very well paved, a little bit of loose gravel and rocks so watch your step. There is a parking lot on the bottom that seems to get pretty full. The trail itself is busy too. The marine layer made the first .5 miles foggy but once you get up to the peak it’s a beautiful view that makes you feel like your on top of the clouds. Would definitely do this again even just to get in a good workout.
